Friday Favorites: Last One for March

Hey, friends! Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a great week.

Our week seemed short since we were in my hometown Saturday-Monday. The boys and I  went to celebrate my Nana's 80th birthday and it was a great time spent with family and celebrating my sweet grandmother. As always, the visit was super short, but we are looking forward to seeing everyone again for Easter.

We even got some bluebonnet pictures in, and if you're a Texan, you know what a rite of passage this is each year. Thankfully I was able to bribe the boys with chocolate for a few smiles. ;)

While we were in my hometown, Brandon was in Palm Springs for work attending the annual Aircraft Electronics Association Conference. He spoke at the conference and completely rocked it. I'm a super proud wife! (And was so happy to have him home Wednesday evening and to have us all under the same roof for the first time since early Saturday morning.)

I admit it: I'm a yeller. It took me a long time to even mutter those words of admittance, but here we are. My mom gave me a book when we were home last weekend and I read it in two days: "When You Feel Like Screaming: Practical Help for Frustrated Moms" by Sue Heimer. Y'all, I don't normally (well, really ever) say this about a book, but it has completely changed my parenting. I want to be the crazy lady knocking on Mrs. Heimer's door giving her the biggest hug and thanking her for her book.

The book really gets to the core of why we yell (and spoiler alert: it's usually not our children) and offers practical, Christ-centered tips to help us combat it. I haven't yelled since Tuesday morning and friends, that is a victory for me. Baby steps.

If you're like me and yell/raise your voice/whatever you want to call it, this book is for you. It's a short read (each chapter is 2-3 pages max) and I finished it in two days. I've recommended it to all of my girlfriends and have thanked my mom profusely for giving it to me!

I had a hard time finding Easter pajamas for the boys that weren't either ridiculously expensive or insanely cheesy -- and yes, I buy themed pajamas for the boys for holidays! I finally found this pair at Gap on major sale ($11.49 per pair marked down from $22.99) and can't wait for them to wear them for Easter!

I finally broke down and ordered the coveted rose sneakers from Target earlier this week. I love them! They're so cute and such a fun little accent to an outfit vs. wearing my regular Nikes. For $34.99, they're such a steal and super cute!

I hope everyone has great weekends!

What's Up Wednesday: March 2019

End of March -- what?! This month practically flew by, as it always seems to do. I hadn't linked up with Shay for "What's Up Wednesday" in a while, so I thought now would be as good a time as any to do so.

1. What We're Eating This Week
The boys and I were out of town Saturday-Monday, and then Brandon has been out of town Sunday (coming home today, thank you Lord!), so we've been a bit all over the place in terms of meals. It's been lots of leftovers, sandwiches and whatever else we can find. The meal planning starts back tomorrow and I'm far too excited about it!

2. What I'm Reminiscing About
This time last year, we were in the throes of moving! I can't believe it's been a full year that we've been here. Some days it feels like a lot longer, and some days it feels like we just got here. It was sad leaving our first home, but we've already made some great memories in this new house.

And, between Instagram Archives and Facebook Memories, I've been a big ol' ball of emotion the last few weeks thinking back to my sweet little babies! Spring is my favorite season, and I just love getting out and having park dates and lots of playtime outdoors once this glorious season arrives. So here's a little trip down memory lane from last spring:

3. What I'm Loving

Besides this glorious spring weather we've been having lately (finally, finally!), here are a few recent favorite things:

+ Cactaki Water Bottle
I admittedly don't drink enough water in a day, but since buying this water bottle, I'm for sure getting 64 oz. (typically a little more) in during the day. The little time markers on the side help motivate me, and it's nice to know I'm getting in the H2o my body desperately needs.

+ These sunglasses
I picked them up at a little EZ Mart on our Angel Fire, N.M. vacation last month, and Knox broke them last weekend. Well, after a bit of searching, I found them on Amazon and they're the exact same! Love them! (And you can't beat that less-than-$10 price tag!)

+ Our upstairs bathroom remodel
I'm so glad we did this! I absolutely love it and enjoy giving the boys' baths in there now. You can read all about our remodel here

4. What We've Been Up To
This month was filled with lots of fun things: our inaugural trip to Peppa Pig World of Play; a rollerskating birthday for our friend Silas; Rodeo Day at preschool; park dates + outside play time; our first al fresco dining of the year on our patio; Spring Break (tent movie time, Chick-fil-A with friends, play dates with friends, a visit to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, and a visit to Brandon's office + lunch with him); dressing up; dinner dates with friends at our house; and lots of walks (well, rides for them in their car and walks for me) to the local park after naps.

Love spending my days with my cute little boyfriends!

5. What I'm Dreading
I don't think I'm dreading anything right now! I had a ton of doctor's appointments last month for various things (as did the boys), so those are now out of the way and I'm happy they're behind us.

6. What I'm Working On
Trying to get a few blog posts planned out and written. I don't like doing it too far in advance because sometimes I feel it doesn't become relevant + authentic, and y'all know I strive for and crave authenticity in this space. It's a big balance of doing it because I love it vs. feeling pressured to do it, and I just want to ensure I'm writing things y'all want to hear about while also writing what makes me happy. I hope that makes sense.

7. What I'm Excited About
My birthday is next Sunday, and we're planning to go out to dinner with some friends next weekend to celebrate. And of course, Easter is next month (which we're planning to spend with my family) and I'm just really excited for my favorite month of the year!

8. What I'm Watching/Reading
I read "It's Not Supposed to Be This Way" recently and absolutely love it. I think it's a must-read for anyone -- especially those going through a rough season in their life, or even those (like me) who have high expectations of people/events/how things should go and be/etc. It's awesome! There are so many Bible-based, God-spoken truths in this book.

We are watching "You" (oh man, this one is good), "This is Us," "RHOBH," "RHONY," and of course, March Madness.

9. What I'm Listening To
I have the boys with me in the car most of the time, so it's usually the "Moana" soundtrack on repeat or the Getty Kids Hymnal - In Christ Alone CD (also on repeat).

10. What I'm Wearing
Honestly, y'all, I live in yoga pants and T-shirts 99% of the time. That's just the season of life we are in right now with two little ones. But, I did recently find some super cute clothes on both Amazon, Old Navy and thredUp:

+ This camo sweatshirt (Amazon)

+ This ruffle-sleeve dress (Old Navy)

+ This one-shoulder blouse (LOFT, via thredUP)

+ This lace-trim top (LOFT, via thredUP)

+ This sweater (LOFT, via thredUP)

And PS: If you haven't yet tried thredUP (seriously, I love it), here is a code for $10 off your first order. I have found so many great things on that site (a lot NWT!) and love scouring it for great deals.

11. What I'm Doing This Weekend
Praying that the rain they're forecasting holds off so we can go to a cute little pre-Easter event on Saturday morning. Other than that, lots of relaxing (hopefully) and church on Sunday!

12. What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month
My birthday (32 -- ahh!), Easter, and time with family

13. What Else is New
I think we've covered it all! :) Happy Wednesday, all!

Friday Favorites: JORD Wood Watch Giveaway, Etsy Shop Discount + More!

Hey friends! Hope everyone has had a great week. I have a giveaway and a coupon code in this post for y'all, so keep on reading for that goodness! :)

A precious blog reader, Ashley, sent me these adorable mason jars + the faux flowers to decorate my home for spring. She has an Etsy shop, ATZ Home Design, and is offering y'all a 10% off coupon for anything in her shop! Just use the code BRITTANY10 (good until May 31, 2019)

I absolutely loved getting my house spring ready with these mason jars and flowers! Thank you, Ashley!

I was so excited when JORD reached out to me about their beautiful wood watches! If you haven't yet heard of JORD, they are the creators of unique, hand-crafted, all-natural wood watches -- and they are gorgeous!

They sent me the Frankie, which is dark sandalwood with an emerald face (with sapphire crystal glass), and I absolutely love it! It's so lightweight (but doesn't look that way at all) and is just beautiful! I have worn it this week and received so many compliments on it. And in fact, I personally think it could be worn by a guy, too. JORD watches make great gifts for any girl (hello, Mother's Day!) and guy (hello, Father's Day!) on your list; the options to choose from are endless. And they also offer watch engraving for an additional cost.

The process to measure my wrist was so simple; I just printed out their handy ruler and measured my wrist size in centimeters, and the watch arrived perfectly sized to fit me. Included in the box it arrived in was a cloth to clean the watch and wood preserver oil to ensure the watch is always looking as beautiful as the day it arrived to me.

JORD has been so kind to host a giveaway for y'all! You can enter it HERE. But it doesn't stop there: they will send everyone who enters the giveaway a 10% off discount code, while one lucky winner will receive a discount code for $100 off of a JORD watch!

*I partnered with JORD for this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

We have been trying to be a little better about what we're eating with swimsuit season quickly approaching, so our recipes lately have been healthy (well, most of them, anyway), yet delicious.

Here are some recent favorites:

+ SkinnyTaste's Dijon-Maple Chicken with Brussels Sprouts and Butternut Squash
This is not only easy, but delicious. I could eat the sauce with a spoon! Even the boys enjoy this dish and it tastes even better heated up for leftovers the next day.

+ Low Carb Crustless Taco Pie
This is actually a Keto recipe, but we all love it so much! It's so easy to put together and again, my boys love it! We serve each portion with some guacamole, sour cream and salsa. It's delicious!

+ Salmon Croquettes
I don't have a recipe for these exactly, as I melded Natalie's recipe with a family recipe to add some flavor. I don't normally fry things, but these were 100% worth my house, hair and clothes smelling like fried food. So yummy and Brandon took a couple to work for leftovers for days!

+ Almond Flour Banana Muffins
We loved these this week! In fact, I made 12 on Sunday evening and by Wednesday morning, these puppies were gone! The boys love them and I love that they're pretty healthy (made with almond flour, bananas and sugar-free chocolate chips), but still a nice treat.

A few recent Amazon favorites:

+ Cactaki Water Bottle

I struggle with drinking enough water throughout the day, and this handy BPA-free water bottle has time markers to remind me when it's time to chug. It's 32 oz. and you fill it up once a day for a full 64 oz. of water a day. (And trust me, I can tell that I'm drinking much more water this week! I've been back and forth to the restroom and my skin is already looking better!)

+ Hold.ME Three-Ways Hairspray

My hairstylist used this on me when I had my hair done a couple of weeks ago, and I loved it so much that I purchased it on Amazon on the drive home. It smells SO amazing and holds my hair without being too stiff or tacky. But the cool thing about it is that it has three levels of hold: light, medium and high, and you simply choose which level you want by twisting the nozzle. So cool!

+ Beauty For Real Lip Revival Sugar Lip Scrub (Orange Spice)

My lips were just generally dry and I wanted something to exfoliate them and ensure my lipstick goes on a bit smoother, so I found this one on Amazon and not only does it work, but it smells delicious! I use it about once or twice a week (as needed) and it makes my lips so soft and smooth.

We have absolutely been living outdoors this week, and I couldn't be happier that spring has officially arrived (and am praying it stays weather-wise for the time being!). We have loved getting back out on walks, playing at the park and even eating supper outside on the patio before it gets to be 100+ degrees with 100% humidity and the dreaded mosquitoes are back! Spring, we love you!

These are my sunglasses I found in a little EZ Mart in Angel Fire. Well, Knox broke them soon after this picture was taken and I was so bummed! But, I did a. little research and what do you know, Amazon had them for a little over $9! I quickly scooped them up and was so excited I found them! Here is the link if you want them, too!

Hope everyone has great weekends!
