What's Hap-pinning Wednesday: My Personal Wish List

Happy Wednesday, friends! Two weeks ago, I shared an Ultimate Gift Guide for everyone on your list (you can see that here) and today I'm sharing my personal wish list.

Of course, Christmas (to me) is so much more about the kids and seeing the joy on their faces when they open gifts is so much more fun to me than opening gifts of my own. But, I have had people ask me for ideas, so I wanted to compile them here, too.

Here are a few things I wouldn't mind unwrapping this year:

one || two || three

four || five || six

seven || eight || nine

I'm a germaphobe/clean freak through and through, so I really have been wanting a Roomba for a while! I seriously run my vacuum three times a day to clean up after the boys, so not having to do that at least once a day will be helpful to me.

Again with the germaphobe/clean freak, so this continuous clean system is right up my alley.  It continuously vacuums dirt, dust and dander from the air, so surfaces stay cleaner.

I constantly have my phone with me, and I've had my current watch for years, so combining my phone and a watch together is something I really want! I'm constantly missing calls because I'm upstairs with the boys or have left my phone in the car, so an Apple Watch is something that will really help me!

Now that both boys are potty trained, I really don't have a need to carry my giant "mom bag" everywhere I go that holds diapers, wipes, a changing pad, extra changes of clothes, Wet Wipes, hand sanitizer, water cups and my wallet/sunglasses/keys/etc. for me. Crazy! I have loved this pretty bag for a long time and feel like it would go with a lot in my closet.

My grandmother started this Spode Christmas set last year and I would like to continue to complete the set so I have service for 12. I can't wait to use the four-service set she got me last year for our Christmas morning breakfast this year!

I have had my current soft-sided luggage set since high school graduation (so embarrassing), so I am really wanting some new, updated, hard-sided luggage. And, I always like to get luggage in a bright color so I can easily identify it in the airport.

It's no secret that I love the British Royal Family, so this coffee table book by Getty photographer Chris Jackson is something that I really want this year. I have heard the photographs are just beautiful.

Our Crock Pot is one we got at a wedding shower eight years ago and is cracked. So, I'm really wanting/needing a new one! I love that this one is programmable.

These are the sunglasses Meghan Markle wore to her first public appearance with Prince Harry in 2017 and I'm obsessed with them! I have a heart-shaped face and need something bigger to make my face look a "normal" size. I love these!

Thanksgiving Weekending

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving with your family and friends, or wherever you celebrated.

Knox came down with RSV last Sunday (and was diagnosed the day before Thanksgiving), so he and I spent all week at home, including on Thanksgiving Day. It was really sad, but I know I'll look back on the time spent with just him on Thanksgiving while Brandon and Walker were at his mom's house with sweet memories in the years to come. It was actually really precious in that both my brother (who's a news reporter) and my cousin (who's a pilot) were working on Thanksgiving, and Knox (also missing Thanksgiving) got to FaceTime with them and it cheered him up a bit. :)

He did start feeling better on Saturday morning (thankfully), so we made a little trip out to have dinner with my brother who was in town and go see Santa. The rest of the weekend was spent hanging out at home, me disinfecting/cleaning everything, Brandon getting the garage cleaned out and organized and I started wrapping Christmas presents.

Waiting for the RSV test results in the pediatrician's office

FaceTime-ing with his cousin, Robert

FaceTime-ing with his Uncle Royden

Our Elf, Mo, came on Saturday morning with a special note written by Uncle Royden ;)

This cutie pie finally woke up happy on Saturday morning!

Going to visit Santa and eat dinner with Uncle Royden

Brandon, Knox, Walker and my brother, Royden

Santa pictures!

They loved having their Uncle Royden to visit

Have a great week!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!

Did you catch Jessi and my Ultimate Christmas Gift Guide post on Wednesday? We shared an all-in-one gift guide with ideas for men, women, kids, and teachers/hostesses. You can see Jessi's gift guide here and mine here

Is there a specific gift guide I missed that you'd like to see? (Stocking stuffers, etc.) If so, let me know in the comments and I'll work on that for you!

Walker had his Thanksgiving feast at school on Wednesday, and I loved eating with that little turkey. Preschool Thanksgiving feasts are seriously one of my favorite things. (His shirt is from Old Navy last year. I usually try to buy ahead post-holidays since it's so much cheaper!)

We have had an unusually random November cold front this week, and for a few days, the highs weren't above 30 degrees (and the wind chills were 17 degrees)! This is very weird for North Texas in November, so I was frantically trying to pull out our hats, gloves and thick jackets. And yes, I realize we sound like wimpy southerners with thin Texas blood when I say that, but I guess I'll raise you our 100+ degree humid summers. ;)

Anyway, the boys thought it was so cool to get to wear hats and gloves on the playground, and Walker even asked me if it was going to snow. It didn't, but I sure wish it did!

Today is your last day to enter my Smile Brilliant giveaway! It takes two seconds to do: just click this link, type your name and email address in the boxes and you're entered to win! I'll be sure to announce the winner here when one is chosen. As a reminder, it's $149 value to Smile Brilliant, which is the cost of their T3 Sensitive System. It's the perfect time to get those pearly whites for the holiday season!

I'm going to be taking a blogging break next week to spend time with family and enjoy my favorite holiday: Thanksgiving! (I love it: getting to spend time time eating and drinking with family without the added pressure of gifts; the best.) Lord willing, we will put up the Christmas tree tonight and take our family portraits tomorrow evening for our Christmas cards.

And, because I'm sappy, here are my boys last Thanksgiving; man, how time flies!

Happy Thanksgiving, friends! See you next Monday, Nov. 26!

In addition, some of my very favorite gifts to give (and receive!) are experiences: theater tickets, ballet tickets, museum annual passes, a spa day, manicure/pedicure gift cards, a NASA Space Center Tour, a vacation, cooking classes, a year's worth of babysitting, or money toward that big gift that you can't afford (but know they want or need) -- like a mattress, new furniture, vacation, etc. Sometimes experiences are the best gifts of all!

Happy Monday, friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We had a really nice weekend at home and it was nice to not travel after two weekends of it! Here's a bit of what we were up to:

+ The boys and I had a little donut date and they got to wear their jammies. They loved it! They got to do a lot of playing outside when we got home, and then we had a lazy afternoon.

Brandon's boss told him to go home early on Friday afternoon (a rare treat!) so we got to start out weekend a few hours early. We had dinner at Rā Sushi and then grabbed some macarons from 'Lette Macarons to take home for dessert.

Once the boys were in bed, Brandon and I started the latest season of "House of Cards," and let's just say that I'm really missing Kevin Spacey on the show. It's just not the same without Frank Underwood!

+ Walker and I went to Betsy's birthday party, which was an adorable Madeleine theme. Emily is such a great hostess and everything was just so cute!

+ Brandon and Knox were busy getting lots of little projects done at home, and had made a run to Lowe's and Ace Hardware by the time we got home. They finished their projects while I cleaned and we made chili for supper, followed by more "House of Cards" in 8:30 p.m. Ha!

+ I was supposed to volunteer in Walker's Sunday School class, but some wires got crossed and I ended up not getting to do it. But I still got this cute picture before we left. ;)

+ We had a very lazy afternoon: leftovers for lunch, a fire in the fireplace, naps, Instacart delivery and football on TV. We got a big cold front yesterday and last night, and it's only supposed to be a high of 46* (and pouring rain today) so they bundled up yesterday to go outside and play. (You know you're a Texan when...)

I hope y'all have wonderful weeks!

As a reminder, Jessi and I will be back Wednesday sharing an awesome Christmas gift guide, and you'll be able to link up with us and share yours, too. See y'all Wednesday for that! #ohwhatfun

And, finally, don't forget to enter my Smile Brilliant giveaway today, too! It takes less than one minute to do (just type your name and email address in the boxes -- that's it!), and it's a $149 value!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!

I am so excited to share that next Wednesday, Jessi and I are sharing our 2018 Ultimate Gift Guide linkup, and we want y'all to join us! Link up with Jessi like usual for her "What's Hap-pinning Wednesday" linkup, and share your favorite gifts or what's on your own wishlist this year. We can't wait to see what you come up with! It's our favorite time of the year!

Did you see my Smile Brilliant giveaway I posted about yesterday? If not, hop on over to yesterday's post to enter! :)

Last Friday, we took a little trip down to my hometown in southeast Texas to let Brandon and Walker hunt during opening weekend of deer season. Walker went out for the first time and stayed both Friday and Saturday night at the deer camp with the men in my family, and let me tell you what, he felt so big! He was the fourth generation hunter out there over the weekend and it was just so special to see him hunt with not only Brandon, but with my Dad and grandfather, too. My heart was just so beyond full.

And while the boys hunted (and Knox napped), I helped my mom take a few pictures for her store's social media accounts. She got me their newest sweatshirt and I swear it's the most comfy thing I have ever owned, and I love that it's not too heavy but also covers your bum. Win win!

So some Amazon favorites this week have included:

+ These kids travel neck pillows (for the boys to use in the car on trips):

+ This NERF set (that my friend Emily told me about) that the boys will get from Santa:

+ And a refill of my favorite eye cream

I hope y'all have great weekends!

Friday Favorites: First One for November

Happy Friday, y'all, and Happy November!

Last weekend, we went on a little getaway with our friends to Horseshoe Bay/Marble Falls, Texas. It's in the beautiful Texas Hill Country and we were able to stay at my friend's parents' beautiful home. The boys were able to golf while the girls snuck away for a glass of wine, and we all just enjoyed being together. We have four boys between us (two four-year-olds and two two-year olds) so it's always pretty crazy, but we have so much fun.

We had a pretty rainy Halloween, but our little Daniel Tiger and "Army Guy" had so much fun. I'll definitely be praying for a much less rainy fall next year. ;)

Speaking of Halloween, I tried my hardest to make it a fun Halloween for the boys. My mom used to always do cute stuff for us on holidays and I still remember how special it made the holiday feel -- and how special we felt, too. So while the boys were at school on Tuesday, I picked up some Halloween donuts for breakfast on Halloween morning; grabbed a $9 take-and-bake jack-o-lantern pizza from Papa Murphy's; and set out their little Halloween goodies on Halloween morning. It was just a plate and milk cup from Target's Dollar Aisle and a Halloween-themed book, but it was just something fun!

For dinner on Halloween Eve, I made "spook-getti!" (Just spaghetti made with zucchini noodles and I put edible spooky eyes from Walmart on top.) And then we rented "Hotel Transylvania 3" on Prime and watched it together as a family. I love holidays and especially now that we have kids!

And speaking of Walmart, I was in there and found the cutest hiking boots for the boys! They were $16.98!

And I know a lot of the stuff I post that I purchased from Walmart is sold out online, but I've gone back into stores and have seen it out on display. ;)

Did you know that World Kindness Day is Tuesday, Nov. 13? I love all of these fun little "made-up holidays," but I think this one might be my favorite. It's so important to Brandon and me that we raise kind children who enjoy serving and paying it forward and leading (and living!) with a Christlike example. So, I loved this article from Personal Creations: "30 Thoughtful Random Acts of Kindness for Kids." (Give it a read!)

Some of my personal favorites:

  • Talk to someone new at school
  • Sit with someone who is sitting alone
  • Bake cookies for the local fire station
  • Buy lunch for a soldier you see at an airport
  • Thank your mail carrier for their services
  • Tell someone they are important

I know that now that Halloween has come and gone that a lot of people (and stores) are in full-blown Christmas mode. I adore Thanksgiving and can't wait to celebrate it in three weeks-ish. No pressure of gifts, just getting together with family and friends to eat, drink, watch football and remember what it is we're thankful for. I love it!

But, that said, I am gearing up for some post-Thanksgiving holiday-themed posts and would love to know what types of posts you'd like to see: gift guides (and if so, which ones); Christmas traditions; etc. I'd love to hear from you!
