Friday Favorites: First One for August

Happy Friday! It's nice to see y'all again on a Friday morning after a little blogging break. Thanks for welcoming me back! :)

I've loved a lot of random things this summer, so I wanted to share a handful of them with you here today. So let's get down to it:

I got back on the reading train this summer and have been diving into books before bed instead of mindlessly scrolling my phone. I'm hoping to make this a habit even after summer ends. Books I've read this summer include:

+ Summer Rental (loved)

+ Deep Dish (slow to start but ended up super cute)

Slightly South of Simple (also loved)

+ And The Secret to Southern Charm (next on my list!)

These cute cactus pajamas my friend Megan shared with me are a huge favorite around here! They're so soft and cute on the boys, and there's nothing I love more than matching brothers!

I have worn the mess out of these shorts this summer, which I got on sale at J.Crew Factory for less than $20. And bonus: they have pockets!

And speaking of clothes, I didn't really love anything from the Nordstrom sale this year (was it just me or was it a little...blah...this year?), but I did scoop up two pairs of my beloved Zella leggings (one pair of crops and one pair of leggings), and this shirt a few weeks before the sale that I'm dying to wear this fall.

I also found some caaaah-yute tops at the good ol' Walmart this summer, too! Walmart has been stepping up their game lately and I'm not hating it!

I got this top

This shirt (which is actually much cuter in person):

And this top

Some favorite beauty products I'm loving this summer include:

+ This glycolic cleanser that I use once a week at nighttime to slough away dead skin cells (I couple it with my Clarisonic for double the exfoliation).

+ This Vitamin C Serum that I use at nighttime to help with anti-aging and wrinkles around my eyes and mouth.

+ And this eyelash primer that also doubles as a very natural looking mascara that I wear on days I don't want to put a full face of makeup on but still want to look put-together and awake.

And the biggest service I've been loving is still Instacart (I fell in love with ALDI by starting Instacart)! It has been such a lifesaver to have my groceries delivered to my house this summer when the boys have been home. Not only do I not have to take them with me (and by "take" I mean "battle them the entire time I'm there") to the grocery store, but I don't have to get them out in the oppressive heat we've been having this summer. It's so nice to just order online and have it delivered to my house during nap time!

If you haven't tried Instacart yet, here is a code you can use for $10 off plus free delivery on your first order! It's so helpful and I so wish I had this as a brand new mom! (Not sponsored at all; I'm just obsessed!)

I hope y'all have wonderful weekends! It's good to be back!

  1. So glad you are back!! I apparently need to hop on over to Wal-Mart... I have never done the Nordstrom sale, I just do not get the hype. But love some Zella leggings.

  2. So glad you are back to blogging! Walmart has stepped it up and I love your picks! I really wasn't too crazy about the N-sale either, I really wanted to get a North Face puffer jacket, but it's been out of stock the whole time, so that's unfortunate! Also, yay for more reading! Mary Kay Andrews is hit or miss for me, but some of her books are fantastic! :)

  3. Love those leopard shorts - so stinking adorable!!

  4. Love those PJs - nothing beats matching brothers! And, glad you're back!

  5. I am so glad you have been enjoying the summer! I felt the same way, I was very underwhelmed with the Nordstrom sale this year and a lot of it felt like the same things from last year but just in different colors. Sierra Beautifully Candid

  6. I really want to use Instacart but they only have the expensive stores listed for my area. There is an Aldi right outside of my neighborhood but not listed through any delivery service so I'm stuck just going to Aldi myself.

  7. I don't think I've read any of those books but those are two of my favorite authors.

  8. I use the Mario glycolic toner and really like it. I'll have to try the cleanser too. Thanks for the tips on the books and the Walmart shirts. The boys look so cute in the cactus pj's. Have a wonderful weekend! Tanya - The Other Side of the Road
