Friday: First One for September

Well, happy September and happy Labor Day weekend! Even though it will still be warm here for about another month, we're planning to toast and say a big "goodbye" to summer this weekend and enjoy the long weekend with Brandon home -- which, speaking of, he's heading home from a weeklong business trip and we're so glad to have him home today.

Here are my favorites this week:

Eric & Jessie returns Wednesday, and I'm so excited! I loved seasons one and two and I'm thrilled they're back after a three-year hiatus. They crack me up!

Thank you all for your sweet comments on my post yesterday about our love story. It was fun to write that all out and we had fun talking about the details and intricacies of the beginning of our relationship.

I have my eye on a few things from J.Crew Factory {my favorite!} and can't wait to see what their Labor Day sale looks like. Here are some things I'm planning to put in my cart:

Off-the-Shoulder Top {clearly still loving this trend}

Cuffed Striped Boatneck Shirt

Funnelneck Sweatshirt

Summer totally threw me off my reading-before-bed habit, but after reading "The Husband's Secret," (which I loved), I'm back in my reading routine. I started "The Nightingale" earlier this week and am really liking it so far. Next up is "Present Over Perfect." Anyone else have any other book recommendations?

I'll admit, it's been a long week at home by myself with the boys...but when I think about everything that's going on in Houston and the surrounding areas with all of this flooding, my "problems" seem so first-world. The images coming out of Houston and the surrounding areas have been so heartbreaking and I just can't believe I grew up only 90 miles away from there -- I mean, Houston is where we went to the mall, on dates, saw sporting events, saw family, went to the doctor...

It's just devastating and my heart just hurts.

Please keep these people in your thoughts and prayers for the days, weeks and months to come. I shared ways you can help on Wednesday's post; if you feel so inclined, please donate needed supplies and/or money to these victims. It's not over yet and won't be over for a while.

Linking up with: AprilAmanda, Andrea and Katie

  1. The pictures coming from Houston, so so so heartbreaking. I was looking at some in bed yesterday morning (at like 4:30) and there was a baby sleeping/floating in a Rudder Made tub and I LOST it. There just aren't even words for how sad it is. Yay for Brandon coming home today! Is it his last week of summer hours? It's Nathan's last week and we are very, very sad around here!!

  2. Houston and their reality REALLY kept my perspective this week. I've loved the quote this week too, "if we want our children to be helpers, we must help". I tried to keep that top of mind as well.

And, switching gears big time - I'm so excited for Eric and Jessie too. I think they're hysterical and make for a great show!

  3. You HAVE to read 'It Ends With Us' if you haven't already!! Colleen Hoover is an amazing writer. :)

  4. I'm loving all of your picks from J Crew Factory... they have the BEST stuff. Hope you have a great weekend!

  5. So excited for Eric & Jessie!! Love that JCrew sweatshirt! Hope you all have a great long weekend at home with Brandon!

  6. Lovely post, i love a little glimpse into people thoughts and lives :)

  7. I can't wait to hear what you think about Eric and Jesse's new season! I am obsessed with your new J Crew picks!!! Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend at home!

  8. I can't believe it's September. I love the stripy top!

  9. I'm excited for Eric and Jessie too! I'm glad you're getting back into reading! I loved the Nightingale and I also loved The Woman in Cabin 10 if you haven't already read it!

  10. Thinking of people in Texas. Praying. Visiting from the weekend blog hoop over at Claire Justine

  11. I just love J. Crew and that sweatshirt you shared just looks so comfy!

  12. One thing I have truly learned through this Houston devastation is how it has brought our country together. It's so sad that a tragedy like this has to happen for our country to "get along" but it warms my heart seeing everyone helping each other!
