It's Monday, and we're headed to Meet the Teacher at Walker's school this morning; he starts on Thursday! But before we jet off on our busy day, here's a bit of what we were up to this weekend.

+ I actually have zero photos of this day, as it was just a "meh" day. I had been feeling really worn down, tired and feverish {but without a fever} and so I laid down during Knox's morning nap and had Walker lay down with me, and after a little nap, a shower, a fattening lunch at Rosa's and a cup of coffee from ZenZero, I was feeling a lot better. I think we had just been go-go-go all summer and I had been staying up a little too late and getting up a little too early and it was all catching up with me.

+ Thankfully, Brandon had his summer hours and got home at 11:30 a.m., which we are really enjoying. After lunch, he and Walker got haircuts and I went during the boys' nap time and got mine cut, too.

+ We spent the afternoon checking things off our to-do list: made a trip to Home Depot, touched up paint around the house, and Brandon installed a flood light near our driveway. We had a delicious gluten-free pizza for our traditional Friday Night Pizza Night, watched a bit of TV and got in bed around 8:30 p.m. to read and call it an early night. {I'm still loving this book, by the way!}

+ We headed Southbound on I-35 to head to Waco! Brandon's older brother and his family recently moved to Waco, so we went to visit them and see their new house before the craziness of school starting and all things fall begins. Brandon, his brother, our sister-in-law and I all met at and graduated from Baylor University, so it was fun to go back and see our alma mater, too.

+ We started out with lunch with Brandon's brother, our sister-in-law and three nieces at George's, a Waco institution! {In fact, Pat Green wrote a song about it!}

+ Of course we had to get a Big O {Brandon} and a MargaritO {me} for old time's sake. ;) Our favorite things to order there are the fried pickles and Brandon gets The George Burger and I get the Pat Green's Southside Chicken Sandwich. So delicious!

+ After lunch, we walked around campus and took the kids to see the Baylor Bears. It was so hot outside, but we loved walking around campus and reminiscing. It was Welcome Week {the week of fun activities before school starts today} and it was so neat to think that that was us 12 years ago {me}, 13 years ago {Brandon} and 17 years ago {my brother- and sister-in-law}. Seeing all the parents there helping their kids move in made me so teary-eyed and I told Brandon that, Lord willing, we would be there moving Walker in in a mere 15 years! {Sob!}

+ We wandered over to Castellaw Communications Building, where Brandon and I met nearly 10 years ago, in room 249. It was so surreal to be back in that very spot with our two boys in tow. I'm so thankful for how the Lord weaved together our love story through Baylor University. While we were in there, Walker decided he had to go to the bathroom, Knox had a diaper and we had to barricade ourselves in the giant men's bathroom to handle it all. {Thank goodness classes hadn't started yet and the building was empty!} We died laughing and agreed that we never thought we'd be doing that very thing almost 10 years later. The life of parents, right?!

+ We stopped off to see our old freshman dorms {Brandon was in Penland Hall} and drove by mine {Ruth Collins Hall}, but I had a window overlooking the indoor courtyard on the first floor, so a drive-by had to do. ;)

+ We then drove out to Brandon's brother and our sister-in-law's new house to visit with them and lay all the kids down for naps. Their house is just gorgeous and we loved getting to see it and catch up with them for a while.

+ On our way out of town, we stopped off at Heritage Creamery for delicious cups of ice cream and then hit the road back to Dallas.

+ We unpacked our stuff, ate leftovers for dinner, got the boys bathed and in bed, and went to bed ourselves.

+ We went to church, and this was the best Sunday picture of the boys I could get before we left. ;)

+ After church, Brandon took the boys home while I picked up my groceries. I came home to Brandon making his delicious grilled ham and cheese sandwiches {yay for not having to make lunch!}. We ate, I did a big ol' "shakedown" of the house and cleaned all the things, then the boys went down for naps while I sat on the couch and enjoyed a cup of coffee and "Bridesmaids."

Overall, it was a nice, low-key weekend. We are really enjoying having Brandon home early on Fridays and will be so sad when those are over in a mere two weeks. But, we are excited about Walker starting two-day-a-week preschool this week and getting into back into a rhythm and having some structure. We have a fun week ahead celebrating the last few days of on that note, I'm off to enjoy it! Have a great week!

  1. What a nice weekend. So glad you didn't get sick and just were worn down, that is enough to make you feel terrible! So fun to go back to ya'lls old stomping ground and visit baylor. I hope Walker has a great meet the teacher day!!

  2. Sounds like such a fun trip to Waco! It's always fun to revisit your college campus!

  3. Such a fun weekend - I can't wait to take Leo on a little tour of my old college campus in the next few years. Hope everyone does well with the back to school transition this week!

  4. I seriously wish I had Brandon's summer Friday's - 11:30 would be amazing :) I saw the trip down memory lane at the university - so fun!! xo, Biana-BlovedBoston

  5. What a fun weekend! I love going back to my old campus and looking around too. It's amazing how much changes and how much stays the same. I'm jealous of Brandon's summer hours too! I'm excited fall is almost here though. It just feels fresh, makes me want to purge and reorganize and gets me all excited for a new season!

  6. I love visiting SMU (especially as it has changed so much in just 10 years!). Also, I definitely thought that place was called O'George's, ha! Stopped there once on a drive to Austin and was so scandalized by The Big O :-)

  7. What a nice weekend. It sounds like you all had a great trip to Waco. Glad you are feeling better!
