Now that Brandon's summer hours at work have been enacted, he's home on Fridays before lunch...and man, it sure does make the weekend actually feel like a weekend. Here's a bit of what we were up to:

+ Kicked off those summer hours with a margarita, chips/salsa/guacamole and tacos. Delish!

+ Celebrated National Doughnut Day with a Krispy Kreme doughnut; simply the best! Walker has now asked us for a doughnut every 4.5 hours since Friday afternoon. ;)

+ I dropped the boys off at home for long naps on a very rainy afternoon and went to get an 80-minute massage. It was pure heaven.

+ I came home to lots of fun stuff The First Years sent us in the mail. I can't wait to share it with y'all later this week. The boys are quite obsessed!

+ We ate leftovers for dinner and started binge-ing on Season 5 of "House of Cards." Y'all, oh my word, this season has delivered thus far!

+ It was another rainy, icky day, so the perfect way to kick off a low-key Saturday was Brandon making chocolate chip pancakes! He's totally the breakfast maker in this family. ;)

...and the boys donned their Krispy Kreme hats from the day before because why not?!

+ We got to pick my car up from the body shop {all the praise hands!} and returned the rental car {also all the praise hands}! It's so nice to be driving my own car again.

+ I made this Tex-Mex Pasta Salad for lunch and it was so good! {Although I'll definitely agree that it was better the next day.}

+ I'm not sure if "celebrated" is the appropriate word, but we sadly said "goodbye" to Brandon's brother, our sister-in-law and three nieces on Saturday evening. They're moving from Dallas to Waco, and while we are beyond thrilled for them {especially because they're moving "home" to Waco...we're all Baylor graduates}, we are so sad that they won't be five miles away anymore. And that Walker's cousins are moving. I think this just means more road trips to Waco in our future! We have known about this since Christmas, but it totally hit me on Saturday night when we got home and I just cried. Thankfully Waco is only 90 miles away!

+ We were actually early for church {which never, ever happens}, so we had time to snap a pre-church picture before we left. I just adore our sweet boys!

+ Our pastor preached an amazing sermon on how grumbling, complaining and arguing is such a thief of our God-given joy. And y'all, I told Brandon I needed a pedicure after that sermon because it stepped all over my toes. I'm so guilty of complaining, always wanting to be right in arguments and just overall debating just for the sake of it and I have got to pray that through.

+ After church, Knox took a 3-hour nap and Walker took a 1.5-hour nap with me, which I just loved. He cracked me up: he brought his clock, a tissue, his water and three of his stuffed animals into my room for his nap. He was ready! ;)

+ We took advantage of some breaks in the rain and went to our local recreation center to swim. The boys just loved it and had so much fun!

My swimsuit is here

+ I made an easy supper of pork tenderloin, sweet potatoes and wild rice; the boys were zonked and went to bed early; and Brandon and I watched two more episodes of "House of Cards" before calling it an early night.

I hope y'all have great weeks!

  1. What a great weekend! I need to come visit... if only for some of that yummy texmex!!! Wow, your pastors sermon. Man I should have been there. I'm so guilty of this (as you know). So glad y'all had a fun weekend!!

  2. We are almost done with this season of HOC - I think this is the longest it's taken us to get through it and it's so good and so relevant to NOW! Yay for brandon's summer hours - that's awesome that you guys have a little extra time for the weekend! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  3. Looks like a fun weekend and can we talk about all the delicious food? YUMMY!

  4. Any weekend that starts with a margarita and chips and salsa is a good weekend!!

  5. Umm this is my idea of a PERFECT weekend! I cannot believe I forgot that House of Cards came out last week - I know what we'll be doing tonight!!!

  6. Sounds like a perfect family weekend!! I know you all will miss your BIL, SIL & nieces but I'm glad they're only moving a short distance away AND to your favorite city :) That pasta salad looks delicious!!

  7. I definitely need to catch up on HOC! I love that show! And who could blame Walker for wanting a doughnut? They're amazing haha.

  8. Okay that shot of Knox in the church outfit kills me..those little socks, and his comb over! So hard to have family move, but I would love to go see the silos and am jealous it is right there for you! That tex mex pasta looks delicious, I need to go read the recipe!

  9. So much yummy food! I am definitely going to make that pasta salad soon, would be perfect at the beach with lunch! And girl, Krispy Kreme is my love language seriously.
