Weekending Parrot Head Style

We had a fabulous summer weekend and it was so amazing that I'm totally paying for it this Monday morning in the sleep department! Yikes!

For my 30th birthday in April, Brandon gifted me with tickets to see Jimmy Buffett. If you know me, you know I love me some Jimmy Buffett and totally have plans to retire on an island somewhere. We are totally beach people and his music reminds me of being at the beach, so perfect gift!

Saturday night, we had our babysitter come over and had a little sushi date before the concert. I hadn't had sushi since Knox was born a little over a year ago, so it was high time!

Then, it was time for the concert! The weather was just perfect for an outdoor concert: about 90* with a light breeze and not too much humidity, which, for early June in Texas, was a total gift! The entire "Parrot Head" atmosphere needs to be witnessed at least once. It's hilarious to see so many people donning straw hats, grass skirts, leis, coconut bras, captain's hats and the like. There are also some crazies who were pretty outrageous in their attire and behavior, but the majority of the people are hilarious and fun. {We opted to not wear the Parrot Head attire, though! ;) }

ZZ Top opened and I must say, it was pretty fun to see those old guys rock out, and it was hilarious to watch the crowd get into it when they sang, "Sharp Dressed Man." ;) Then, Jimmy came on stage around 8:30 p.m. and played all of my favorites: "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes," "Margaritaville," "Fins," "Jamaica Mistaica," "Volcano," "Brown-Eyed Girl," and covered Zac Brown Band's "Knee Deep." It was awesome to watch the crowd get all into it and we danced our hearts out, too!

My dress is sold out {but similar here}, my sunglasses, my earrings, Brandon's shirt, Brandon's sunglasses

Other weekend highlights included:

+ Saturday morning doughnuts from our favorite local doughnut shop

+ A trip to our neighborhood pool

Knox's sun hat can be found here

Walker's sun hat can be found here
Puddle Jumper
Lunch Box Container
My favorite long-sleeved rash guard

+ And a super lazy Sunday, as evidenced by the boys coloring in a giant Amazon box and my piles of laundry on the couch just waiting to be put away:

Have a wonderful week!
