Weekending

Happy Monday! I hope many of you are enjoying an extended weekend! Unfortunately, we are not over here -- Brandon is working today -- but we are making the best of it! ;)

Here's what we were up to this lazy weekend of ours:

-FRIDAY:

+ We had a much-needed "lazy day" with absolutely zero plans on the agenda. While Knox took his morning nap, Walker FaceTime'd with my Dad from the inside of the settee at the end of our bed -- his "cave" -- and it was the sweetest thing. He had a flashlight and my Dad would ask him what he was seeing inside his "cave." So thankful for precious grandparents!

+ Friday afternoon was actually a rough afternoon; Walker hid my keys from me in the car after we came out of Target and I couldn't find them for about 15 minutes. I looked everywhere -- at one point on my hands and knees on the ground in the pouring rain looking under my car -- and just didn't know what to do: I couldn't go back in Target and lock the door because I didn't have keys and it was pouring down rain; I couldn't go anywhere; and my husband was at his office 30 minutes away.

It was pouring down rain and cold, Knox was screaming because he was hungry, Walker was crying because I was getting onto him for hiding my keys, and I completely lost my cool. I'm not proud of it, but I'm thankful for God's grace and forgiveness for me, along with the grace and forgiveness from my children because Lord knows we need it sometimes. That's real life right there, folks. It's not pretty all the time, but it's real.

+ Called it an early night after a quick and easy supper and lots of cuddles with my guys.

+ Knox was up screaming at 10 p.m. because of his stuffy nose, so he and I spent about an hour rocking trying to get him back to sleep after he had some medicine. He thought it was a great time to party and was laughing at me as I was rocking him. Stinker.

-SATURDAY:

+ We celebrated our twin nieces, Noelle and Caroline's, first birthday!

+ After the party, we had a very lazy afternoon of making forts on the couch, having tickle "fights" with the boys, cleaning the house, doing laundry and me making a month's worth of baby food pureés for Knox.

+ Brandon and I watched "Deepwater Horizon" after the boys were in bed and it was so good. So sad, so heartbreaking, so moving, yet so good.

-SUNDAY:

+ We went to church, then came home for another lazy afternoon. Walker pulled out his doctor kit and thought Knox's stuffy nose needed some monitoring with his pretend stethoscope. ;)

+ We watched that heartbreaking Cowboys game {wahhhhhh!} and sat and watched the weather, as we were under tornado watches and severe thunderstorm warnings all night. Around 9 p.m., the tornado sirens went off and we gathered in my closet until it passed...and right as I was getting Knox changed in there to take him back to his room to get him back down, he got sick all over the floor of my closet. Soooooo, I'm praying the stomach bug doesn't make its way through our house this week.

Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep, but that's okay -- there is coffee this morning and hopefully lots of grace to get through this week.

I hope y'all had fabulous weekends, and I can't wait to read about them!

  1. What a weekend!! I am so sorry about your keys. I would have been the same way and so aggravated. I'm sure jack would have been crying Bc I would be fussing him out!! Thankfully we are all human and our kids are the best as forgiving us! How fun to celebrate your twin nieces. So scary about the tornado sirens. I'm such a baby when it comes to thunderstorms and tornadoes! I hope y'all are not getting the tummy bug. Saying all kinds of prayers!! Start drinking grape juice if so!!

  3. I can only imagine how frustrating not being able to find your keys was. That's seriously like my worst fear all the time is that I'm going to lock myself out of the car or forget my keys at home or something and then get stuck somewhere lol.

  4. Oh no!! Hope Knox feels better soon and you have a much less stressful day today! Deepwater Horizon was amazing! We went to see Patriot's Day on Saturday and it was just as good!

  7. Ugh, rough weekend! I was just telling a friend today how I never really knew how much I needed God's grace until I became a mother - it's a test for sure! Hope Knox feels better ASAP!

  8. So where did Walker stash the keys!? That's such a bummer - we all lose patience once in awhile; we are lucky to be saved by His grace, for sure!

  9. I'm so sorry that you had such an un-fun time when Walker hid the keys--where were they? I would have lost my cool then, too, because it's just a perfect storm of chaos and you feel helpless--not a great feeling.
I wanted to watch Deepwater Horizon--that's definitely on our to-watch list!
I'm only a little sorry about your Cowboys...and only mainly because I like you lol
