Weekending: Thanksgiving Week Edition

Happy Monday! We had a fabulous weekend spending some much-needed family time together after an insane last couple of weeks. Here's what we were up to:

-FRIDAY:

+ Brandon got home from his business trip to Canada {#allthepraisehands}

+ It was downright chilly, so we decided to bite the bullet and put up our Christmas tree and other d├ęcor, which was everything my Mom dreams were made of: two little boys -- and my sweet husband, of course -- putting ornaments on the tree while Christmas music was playing in the background. And hearing Walker say, "Mommy, it's 'bew-full!'" just made my heart melt. I love this time of year, but seeing it through a child's eyes is truly magical.

-SATURDAY:

+ We had an extremely low-key day, and in fact, I didn't leave the house once!

+ The boys cuddled up together to watch the 1964 Christmas classic, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and it was just precious! {And yes, Knox is a thumb-sucker! It's so sweet, but man, he always has that thumb in his mouth.}

+ I did a bit of ironing, some laundry and cleaning, and just basically got a ton of things done around the house.

+ I made this for supper, then we watched this OnDemand -- so great and definitely worth the watch!

-SUNDAY:

+ We went to church, then came home and had a lazy afternoon! I decided on a whim to clean the grout in my kitchen -- yes, I'm a bit of an OCD clean freak! We watched the Cowboys game {Go Cowboys!} and I got in lots of cuddles with this precious little guy and his big brother:

+ Walker wrote his letter to Santa! Special, specific requests this year were a ride-on backhoe and an orange. I think we can handle the former pretty easily, and it's a good thing Santa has already picked up this to handle the latter. ;)

Here's the exact address if you want to send a letter to Santa -- and get a reply back!

I hope y'all had fabulous weekends, and I can't wait to read about them. Happy Thanksgiving Week!

  1. Your tree looks great! I'm still debating on whether or not to put up a tree this year. We have been just so busy and then my c-section is 3 days after Christmas. Plus, while the bulldogs don't mess with the tree, I'm pretty sure our crazy hyper clumsy coonhound puppy is going to run into it and knock ornaments off of it all the time. So he might just not be ready for a Christmas tree this year. And knowing him, he'll try to climb it (he has tried to climb the decor ladders in the living room before).

  2. It's so funny how the cleaning kick just comes on in us sometimes and we have to get things done!! So glad you had a great laid back weekend and that you put the decor up as a family of 4 this year! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  4. Oh my goodness. That photo of your boys cuddling together is so darling. I love the idea of a santa letter and all things Santa for my girls. I can't wait until they are a bit older, but love that they are getting introduced to it more this year!

  7. So much cuteness. I love seeing kids sitting in front of the tree, or surrounded by Christmas lights. I can't wait to see MG in that roll, holding our little one in front of the tree and the lights! :)
