Friday!

Happy, Happy Friday!

-ONE-
After all of the sickness that plagued our house last week/weekend, Brandon had to hop on a plane to Canada for business on Sunday night. So to say it's been an interesting two weeks around here would be an understatement. He's headed home today, so we are definitely looking forward to having him here, having everything be "normal" and preparing to celebrate the holiday season. I'm also contemplating putting up my tree this weekend since the high tomorrow is supposed to be 59*. And that's basically winter in Texas. ;) #falalalalalalalala

I'm pretty obsessed with my Mom's Christmas tree!

-TWO-
Speaking of holidays, this cutie pie wore his turkey shirt to Mother's Day Out yesterday since they were doing their Thanksgiving celebrations there. I swear, there is nothing more fun than holidays, but when you add a kid to the mix who is old enough to understand what's going on? Icing on the holiday cake, I tell ya.

And yes, it was totally warm enough outside this week for us to wear shorts. In November. I can't complain, though, because we were able to go on long walks each evening and I know the time is coming where it's going to be too cold to do much of anything soon, so I'm soaking it up while I can!

-THREE-
Did you miss my favorite products for second babies (3-6 months) Wednesday? Hop on over to check it out. {Isn't it funny how much less "stuff" you need for the second kid?!}

-FOUR-
I'm in total denial that Thanksgiving is Thursday, even though I'm so excited! I hit "record" on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this morning; that is seriously one of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions -- curling up with a cup of coffee, my babies, a blanket and the parade. I'm making rolls, squash casserole, homemade banana pudding {per my father-in-law's request} and this delicious pie. Oh, I can't wait for next week!

And I got the cutest top from Pearl & Monroe that I can't wait to wear -- with leggings, of course, because hello, elastic waistband! -- on Thanksgiving Day!

-FIVE-
When I was a little girl, my Mom would always pull the Christmas décor down from the attic the day after Thanksgiving. And in all of that stuff were tons of Christmas books; this one being my very favorite. I can still smell the scratch-and-sniff pages and it brings back wonderful childhood memories. So, when I found it on Amazon recently, I seriously did a little happy dance in my living room and couldn't click "Add to Cart" fast enough! It came, and Walker has asked me to read it at every nap time this week, and I'm happily obliging. I read it and I'm five years old on Christmas again, wearing ruffled socks with my patent Mary Janes and donning a plaid Christmas dress with a velvet collar and cuffs.

It's such a sweet book and any of you with littles need to scoop it up! I promise your kiddos won't be disappointed. :)

  1. It definitely doesn't feel like Thanksgiving is next week and although I've seriously been craving the pumpkin crumble bars I made last year, I just don't think I have the energy to make them this year as I'll be almost 35 weeks pregnant and they're a little time consuming. Oh well... unless Jesse decides he wants to make them instead haha. Is it bad that I'm about to purchase that book mainly for myself and not for Rory? I love reminiscing about my childhood and the holidays. Everything is just so much more magical when you're a kid and I can't wait to experience that with Rory.

  2. You're making a squash casserole too?? Yum!! The one I made last year wasn't as good as my mom makes because I made it with light sour cream (big mistake) so if we make it this year I know not to go the skinny route! haha

  8. So glad Brandon is coming home today!! Haha laughing at the weather - ours is unexpectedly upper 60's today and it's been crazy! Yes to the parade - you just reminded me to set the DVR too - with house guests, I'm not sure how much I'll get to see or not.
