What's Up Wednesday: September 2016

Happy Wednesday! Let's recap the month of September, shall we?

As is custom for the last Wednesday of each month, I'm linking up with Mel, Sheaffer and Shay for "What's Up Wednesday" to answer the following questions:

{1} What We're Eating This Week:
I just picked up my groceries from Walmart yesterday {best thing ever for a mom with two young kids -- click here for $10 off your first online order!}...and so I've planned out for us to have:

+ Steaks on the grill, along with these yummy ranch potatoes and broccoli

+ Chicken and Zucchini Casserole and Kale salad

+ Autumn Chopped Salad

+ Grilled chicken, sweet potatoes and these delicious oven-roasted Brussels sprouts

...and lots of yummy leftovers! :)

{2} What I'm Reminiscing About:
I was getting our Web Albums in order after I upgraded to the iPhone 7 recently, and I was looking back through pictures of Walker from this time last year. It absolutely blows my mind just how much bigger he has gotten over the course of one year! Where did my baby go!?

{3} What I'm Loving
After seeing it on Kristin Cavallari's Snapchat the other day, I ordered Pure Magnesium Oil, which apparently -- if you put it on the soles of your feet and the backs of your knees at night, it helps you sleep better. And let me tell you this, I'm not an "oily" person, but if anything promises better sleep, I'm willing to try it out! So either it totally works or I was just exhausted, but I'm loving this stuff

{4} What We've Been Up To
Our fall schedule is in full swing and now that it finally feels like fall outside, I'm totally on board with this! Although you're about to get a glimpse into the weekly life of a boring stay-at-home mom below. {You've been warned. ;) Ha!}

Monday, we met my friend Stacy at the Galleria to let the kids play while it was icky rainy out {but yay for a cold front!}! We came home and hunkered down for the rest of the day, napping, watching movies and staying inside on a yucky day.

Tuesday, Walker had Mother's Day Out and I spent the day paying bills, blogging, cleaning, buying gifts online for showers we've been invited to and just trying to catch up on life in between Knox's naps. It was cool enough outside for Walker to wear a long-sleeved shirt to "school," and I just loved that, so I had to snap a quick picture before we walked out the door.

Today we have BSF and are planning to do lots of errand-running after the boys' naps; tomorrow Walker is back at MDO again and I plan to do a good deep-clean of the house; and Friday morning we're meeting a friend at the park.

I'm telling you, riveting stuff. ;)

{5} What I'm Dreading
The next two Presidential Debates. If Monday night's debate was any indication, I'll be skipping the next two and instead watching Bravo to pretend like our country isn't about to be run by the lesser of two evils.

{6} What I'm Working On
Other than trying to get into a more consistent blogging routine and my weekly BSF "homework," I'm really trying to tackle getting rid of the clutter in this house...especially now that Walker is at "school" twice a week and I have a little more time on my hands while Knox is sleeping. I'm trying to get rid of anything excess, and I'm using this little chart as my guide.

{7} What I'm Excited About
Oh, I'm so excited about this time of the year! It isn't "chilly" in Texas by any means, but it's no longer the face of the sun outside, so I'm loving it! I'm excited about actually being able to sit outside on the patio and have a cup of coffee in the mornings; letting Walker run around outside without having to worry about constantly slathering sunscreen on him and his sweat making said sunscreen get in his eyes; and of course, the usual October things: pumpkins, yummy baked goods, Halloween, cooler weather, and...our SIX year anniversary!

{8} What I'm Watching/Reading
Yay for fall TV being back! We're currently enjoying "This is Us," "Dancing with the Stars," "Designated Survivor," "Modern Family," and season 2 of "Narcos" on Netflix. Oh, and of course I'm still binge-ing "Blue Bloods" and any of the Real Housewives series during the boys' naptime or when Brandon travels. :)

As for reading, I'm really only delving into the Book of John as part of my BSF study. I can really only read one thing at a time, and that totally counts!

{9} What I'm Listening To
Like every month: Walker's favorite CD's...this one and this one. Y'all, before I can even back out of the driveway each day I hear, "Mommy! Make my music really, really loud!" *Insert eye-roll emoji here.*

{10} What I'm Wearing
All the fall things! I'm so excited that I'm finally back to my pre-pregnancy weight and can fit into all of my old clothes again. It's so fun shopping in your own closet!

{11} What I'm Doing This Weekend
We are thinking about going to the pumpkin patch if the weather is still nice out, and I'm excited about joining some mom's from our church for an evening "Mom's Night Out" event that our church's Preschool Director set up. It's going to be fun!

{12} What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month
Of course, all things fall! {#sobasic} and celebrating our six-year wedding anniversary! Seriously, six years...?! How did six years go by this quickly?!

  2. Yay for hitting pre pregnancy weight! Go mama! I am seriously, seriously considering voting for Johnson. I'm sick of people telling me I have to choose one or the other, there ARE other options and if we want change maybe that's what it is! And I can't believe I just typed that because I seriously HATE politics ;-) also so glad you guys are getting some fall weather finally!

  3. Oh, I can't watch another debate either. I was so depressed after the last one. I've had to turn off my facebook too, just to avoid election drama!
Congrats on being back at your pre-pregnancy weight - that is amazing!!! ~Hannah (www.HannahAtHomeBlog.com)

  6. Wow 6 years! That's big! :) I can't believe how much Walker has grown in a year--you expect it, but it's so cool to see the difference a year makes! And yes to wishing the debates and election were over. I'm so sick of it all!

  8. I'm not going to lie, your #4 sounds amazing!!! I cannot wait until I don't have to commute an hour each way and sit at a desk all day lol That's so nice it's cooling down some up there! It's still hotter than blue blazes here and for some reason, we've been having summer storms every night - so annoying! Happy pre-6 year anniversary :)

    1. Hi there! I tried to email you back, but you have a no-reply email. :( We love having an October anniversary! In Texas, it finally cools down enough to be comfortable, so that was a great point for us. It was a little hard with the holidays around our wedding, since we had to take off for the wedding and then Thanksgiving and Christmas, but after that, it was fine!! We love having a little reason to celebrate in early October after not having a "holiday" since July 4, and prices to go on a trip are cheaper since it's in the off-season. Now that we are six-years in, we don't do much other than get cards for each other, but we really enjoy our October anniversary!
