What's Up Wednesday: August 2016

Happy Wednesday! I haven't done one of these in SO long, so let's recap this month!

Anyway, as is custom for the last Wednesday of each month, I'm linking up with Mel, Sheaffer and Shay for "What's Up Wednesday" to answer the following questions:

{1} What We're Eating This Week
We're still doing pretty well eating somewhat Whole 30, but it's mostly turned into mostly Paleo. Oh well. Aside from basic grilled chicken, grilled steak and any sort of grilled meat with vegetables or fruits as sides, we've eaten:

Grilled Chicken and Zucchini Kebabs

Turkey Taco Lettuce Wraps

Salsa Verde Chicken Tostadas

{2} What I'm Reminiscing About
Sweet little tiny baby Knox. In no way, shape or form do I miss waking up every two hours in the middle of the night, but I do miss how teeny tiny he was. At a little over three months, he's already looking so big to me! Perhaps it's because I have Walker and I see how quickly the time goes, but I definitely miss Knox's sweet newborn baby days.

{3} What I'm Loving
I'm absolutely loving these bottles that The First Years sent me...so much that I ordered more! I'm pretty obsessed.

{4} What We've Been Up To
We've loved our lazy mornings at the house each day, but we've simultaneously been trying to get everything prepared for fall: Walker's dentist appointment, a haircut for the little guy, and having some fun play dates with friends before everyone starts school or a different schedule. We love our weekly trips to the library, to a local children's museum and just running errands. ;) We also pulled this pretend grill out of the attic for Walker that my friend Susana picked up for him last year, and he's at the perfect age to actually enjoy it; it's been fun seeing his little mind pretend and imagine!

{5} What I'm Dreading
Walker has his flu shot this afternoon, and I'm dreading that something fierce. I never enjoy seeing my babies get shots (who does?!), but I know that pain is much quicker gone than the pain they'd have if they caught the flu. So, we'll plan for a little ice cream treat for him afterward today. ;)

I have a dentist appointment and an eye doctor appointment on Tuesday, so I'm equally dreading those lovely appointments. Blegh!

{6} What I'm Working On
With all of the baby gear that is currently all over my house comes this crazy need for me to organize allthethings. I'm currently getting rid of stuff we just do not use, while also trying to get Walker's toys sorted and cleaned out; Knox's closet in some semblance of an order; and everything just put in a place. It's completely the OCD, Type A freak in me, but it just makes me feel so much better when it's all done.

{7} What I'm Excited About
Walker starts Mother's Day Out in two weeks, Praise. The. Lord. It's been a long summer for both of us since his last day of MDO on May 17, so I know he's going to be thrilled to go play with his little friends and learn a bit (away from mama) for a few hours two mornings a week.

{8} What I'm Watching/Reading
I'm still reading Jen Hatmaker's "For the Love" (of which I'm obsessed); and we just finished watching Season 1 of "Stranger Things" (so creepy)! I'm still also watching "Blue Bloods" and all of my Real Housewives franchises, but I'm definitely ready for fall TV!

{9} What I'm Listening To
Somehow I mysteriously got Sirius XM back in my car (and I'm not sure how because we didn't renew our contract...) so I've been loving jamming out to the 90's on 9 and Pop2K stations. But if I'm not listening to that, I'm listening to Walker's CD...and I swear I sing these songs in my sleep.

{10} What I'm Wearing
I have been wearing these shorts and this shirt on repeat for the last month, and I just love them both! They're so comfortable, but yet I still look pulled together. I'm also a big fan of Target's basic V-neck short-sleeved shirts that I can dress up or down; this one is my current fave.

{11} What I'm Doing This Weekend
We have a birthday party for our neighbors' kid on Saturday morning, followed by date night (!!!) Saturday night; church Sunday; then swimming at my in-law's on Monday for Labor Day. Brandon is taking off on Tuesday so I can go to the eye doctor and dentist, so while I'm definitely not looking forward to those appointments, yay for extra long weekends!

{12} What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month
Aside from Walker starting Mother's Day Out (haha), I'm looking forward to college football returning, even though I'm thinking it's going to be a rough season for my Baylor Bears. I'm still not quite ready for pumpkins, pumpkin spice everything and all things fall, but I'm hoping I'll get there later next month. :)

{13} What Else is New
We're 99% sure we're going with Brandon's family to the beach next summer, so we've been busy planning that and getting totally and completely excited about it! This will be both boys' first time on a plane, so that's going to be quite interesting, but I don't even care because we'll be going to the BEACH!!!

  2. I seriously jam out to the 90's on 9 and Pop2K channel almost every day on my drive to work. I love hearing those songs you forgot all about and it instantly takes me back to when I was younger! :)

  6. Ah I bet Walker will be so happy to go to school again soon. It is amazing what a difference it makes just in how worn out they get from those days out! So fun you are planning a beach vacation, sounds wonderful!
