What's Hap-pinning Wednesday: Currently

Happy Wednesday! I thought I'd link up with my girls Jenn and Jessi today to share a little bit about what I'm currently up to.

Currently I'm...

The Olympics, along with everyone else in America, of course! {Although I wish they'd realize that tired mamas cannot be staying up until almost midnight to watch one 30-second race...!} My favorites are always gymnastics, swimming and track. And let me tell you what, speaking of swimming, I got all kinds of tickled at Michael Phelps' "aw hell naw" face the other night. Hilarious!

In addition to the Olympics, I'm watching all of the Real Housewives franchises that are currently airing: New Jersey, New York and Orange County; as well as the ever-trashy "Bachelor in Paradise." #summerTVforthewin

I'm still pouring over Jen Hatmaker's "For the Love," which is amazing. I know I've told y'all before, but I would recommend it to any woman to read. Once I finish that book, I'm going to move on to Lisa Scottoline's "Come Home."

A mix of Whole 30 and Paleo recipes, which you can find on my Pinterest board here. Our recent favorites {other than a basic and yummy grilled steak or chicken} have included: Grilled Chicken and Zucchini Kebabs, Creamy Balsamic Chicken and Brussels Sprouts, and Lettuce Wrap Tacos. I've also become quite obsessed with the Plexus 96 chocolate and vanilla protein shake, which I'll either have for lunch one day or after a workout. I get my stuff from my blogging friend-turned-real-life friend Gentel, and I'm so thankful to her for introducing it to me!

+Working Out
I talked about this on Monday, but my friend Ashley recently introduced me to Bikini Body Mommy workouts, and I just love them! (And that is saying a lot because I loathe working out. Loathe it.)  They're short little 20-minute workouts that I do when the boys are both napping in the afternoon, and I really feel accomplished after I complete them. I have seven pounds left to go to reach my pre-pregnancy weight, and I'm hoping that by doing these workouts every day and eating our Paleo/Whole 30 mix, I'll be there soon!

Nothing, other than the essentials! Brandon and I are trying out a no-spend August, and while it's hard, it feels pretty darn good. As much as I wish that cute tee I spotted at Target on sale for just $5 was an "essential," I know how great it will feel when we complete our own little challenge. (Essentials, of course, include groceries, diapers/wipes, gas, etc.)

I'm prepping for this fall (which I'm still in denial that it's going to be; this summer flew by) by cleaning out ALL THE THINGS. Knox is already swaddle-free, so I've been putting those and some of his newborn items on our church's "garage sale" site, and that prompted me to go through and clean out the bins of my stuff that my parents brought me when they moved a couple of years ago. I got rid of so many things (random notes I wrote that my mom kept, my Disney World autograph books, etc.) and kept some sweet notes from my great-grandmothers, my baby doll I always carried with me, etc. Anyway, I'm in total post-baby nesting mode over here. (Is that even a thing? Well, it is now.)

It wouldn't get so ridiculously hot here in the summers. We've been at 10+ days of over 100* temperatures, and I'm just done with that. It's so hard to take the boys anywhere without all of us melting, getting sunburned and simultaneously sweating our butts off. (For any of my northern friends complaining about your recent heat wave, I love you, but that was nothin'! ;))

And finally

+Obsessed with
This dry shampoo // this candle // these snacks // this peel // this mask // this cup //

  1. Those workouts sound awesome! I love shorter workouts, it just makes the workout process less dreadful-haha!

  2. I'm also obsessed with that dry shampoo - it seriously is amazing stuff!! I'm thinking about doing a "no buy September" - wish me luck haha!

  3. You are rocking your new workout/eating plan!! You'll have those 7 pounds off in no time with how committed you are! I'm loving all the same summer shows right now! I'm ready for the fall shows to be back but in the meantime some overdramatic reality shows are definitely keeping me entertained :)

  4. Of course we had the same post today #twinsiesagain love watching all of the tv shows and chatting with you! Yay for a no spend month. I'm trying to watch our spending right now too! Love the addition of the "obsessed with"...might have to do that one next time!!

  5. Out of swaddles already :( geez! Way to go on the no-spending, that's a fabulous thing to stick to and my hubby would love you! I have to share that Phelps pic asap haha made my day!!

  6. I am with you about the heat! I'm in south Louisiana and it's been brutal!

  7. Cannot turn the olympics off! I've said it before but I don't know how you handle the heat - the humidity here is so bad today that I was dripping after Stella's morning walk and I'm sure it's at least 10 degrees cooler here than there!

  8. Olympics, obviously the best time of year ever! I remember being at WS with all our flat screens showing Olympics. I would go to the kitchen or snack room, get distracted by something happening on the TV, and next thing I knew 30 minutes had gone by. HA!

Also, every Lent I give up "the accumulation of stuff", where I only buy "consumables" like toothpaste and such. And can only buy makeup if I run out of something (so no new mascara just because I'm at Sephora). It can be a challenge, but you really do save so much money!

  9. Girl I have watched more olympics this year than ever before and I love it!! Great job on your no spend august - you got this girl!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  10. Oh my gosh, the Michael Phelps thing is a riot!! I'm so bummed they're on so late! I need my sleep!! I can't imagine the TX heat over there!! At least we get a breeze most days!Major props to you for ever leaving the house in that heat with the boys lol
