Weekending

Happy Monday! Whew, that weekend flew by in a flash. Since I'm still lamenting the start of a new {rainy} week, let's recap the weekend, shall we?

-FRIDAY-
I took the boys over to my friend Kelly's house for a little play date, and Brandon was home for his summer half day when we got home {yay!}. Since we only have less than a month left of these glorious days, we're soaking them all in.

After the boys' naps, we took them over to my in-laws' house. My mother-in-law recently had rotator cuff surgery, and her lifelong best friend, Joyce, flew in from Mississippi to help her with her first week of recovery. She was dying to see the boys {and meet Knox}, so we took them over for a little introduction.

After our visit, we had dinner at Chuy's and it was, of course, delicious! Love me some Tex-Mex…and margaritas. This whole meal was most definitely not on Whole 30, but I enjoyed every bite of my cheat day meal. {Although I was good and ordered grilled fish tacos instead of the sour cream chicken enchiladas I was eyeing!}

-SATURDAY-
It was a gross day filled with on-again, off-again rain storms, so we didn't venture out of the house once! I booked my plane ticket to Austin for my friend Laura's wedding shower next month; made a hair appointment; and did some cleaning/picking up around the house.  I love lazy Saturdays like that.

We watched the Dallas Cowboys' first preseason game, and I spotted my relative playing for the Los Angeles Rams. ;) {That was my maiden name.}

And it's probably just me, but I am so not ready for fall this year! Usually I'm chomping at the bit for fall, football season and cooler weather, but I'm begging summer to stay a little bit longer this year. I think I haven't gotten my "summer fix" since Knox was born at the end of May and I was pretty out of it for a good month. And, I'm just not ready for the hustle and bustle that fall typically brings.

Anyway, after the boys went to bed, we watched some Olympics and of course, Michael Phelps' last swim. I hope he decides not to retire and comes back to the 2020 Olympics. {2020…how weird does that sound?!}

As we were watching, I was scrolling through my Facebook feed and saw this status and cracked up. I'm really not a fan of the whole "Everyone gets a trophy" mentality. ;)

 -SUNDAY-
We went to church, and then came home for a quick lunch of leftovers before Walker and Brandon went to a local children's "museum" for their Open Play Day.

Walker clearly had a blast...

…and meanwhile, I got to spend some quality one-on-one time with this sweet baby!

A lazy Sunday evening commenced: dinner, a glass of wine, the Olympics and an early bedtime. Yet another slow, low-key weekend was in our books and we cherished every minute of it! I hope y'all's weekends were just as great and I can't wait to read all about them!
