What's Hap-pinning Wednesday: Life Lately

Happy Wednesday, y'all! I'm linking up with Jessi and Jenn for "What's Hap-pinning Wednesday" to share a little bit of our life lately.

+ Well, I'm officially 39 weeks pregnant with baby boy #2, and he's still comfy and cozy in there. Apparently my womb is a nice hospitable place to be, because it's looking like this little guy is going to have to be kicked right on out of there like his brother was two years ago. Heavy sigh. I know it's all in God's timing, but man, I'm ready to meet this little dude!

+ That said, I had a doctor's appointment yesterday morning, and since I have been feeling like complete and utter crap since Sunday with a horrible cold, my mother-in-law offered to watch Walker all day for me. And let me tell y'all: that offer was a true Godsend. I went to the doctor, got a manicure and pedicure, grabbed a spicy burrito bowl from Chipotle, got some things done around the house, and took a long, much-needed nap. I got text message updates on Walker, and he had a ball: they visited Toys 'R' Us to play with and buy some toys; looked at animals at PetsMart; fed the ducks at my in-law's neighborhood lake; and did lots of playing. Brandon picked him up on his way home from work, so Walker was extra spoiled with some bonus time with his Daddy yesterday, too!

+ Walker "graduated" from swimming lessons on Monday, and we are so proud of the progress he made in three months! He can climb out of the pool on his own (from the side), can go under to grab rings, can swim to the side unassisted, and has zero problems jumping in to someone. Of course, he will still be wearing a life jacket and we'll be watching him like a hawk at the pool and/or lake, but the peace of mind it gives us knowing he's comfortable in the water is immeasurable.

+ I'm at that point in this pregnancy where seriously none of my clothes fit and I'm wearing Brandon's T-shirts around the house. It's quite comical, let me assure you. I can't wait to get back into my pre-pregnancy clothes…even though I know that takes a little while. But a girl can dream of wearing something that doesn't involve Lycra, right?!

+ Speaking of clothes, I ordered Walker these "Pete the Cat" jammies from Zulily yesterday. After attending a story time event at our local library, where they read "Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons," Walker became obsessed with that book. I quickly ordered it on Amazon and we read it at least once a day, if not more. So when I saw these cute little jammies, I knew he'd freak out with excitement. I'm normally not a character outfit-type person, but I figured pajamas were okay. ;) {Need an invitation to join Zulily? Click here!}

+ Does anyone have any old wives tales (that worked for you) to get your babies to head 'em up and move 'em out? I've been walking in the evenings (when it hasn't been raining); eating spicy food; taking Evening Primrose Oil gel caps twice a day; and drinking red raspberry leaf tea. Hit me up with your suggestions, because I'm about to start jumping backwards over here! ;)

+ And lastly, just a little note to y'all as this pregnancy comes to a close: Thank y'all for your support, encouragement and kind words. This blog world is a fun one, and I am so appreciative of the love and support you have shown my family and me during the past six months you've known about baby boy #2. I know it's probably been annoying at times to hear about my weight gain; or my longing for a glass of wine and a cold Turkey Tom from Jimmy John's…but I appreciate you sticking by and reading along. I can't wait to "introduce" him to you all -- and share his name -- hopefully soon. So again, thank you. I appreciate each and every one of you who stops by this space, reads along and even takes time to comment here.

I hope you have a great Wednesday!

  11. So I was told by a nurse that the most effective effort she's heard of was using the breast pump...something to do with the nipple stimulation. It may be pure coincidence but I did this around 10:00pm and my water broke at 11:45pm. Ha!! It's worth a shot though! I was 4 days past my due date and getting desperate because my doctor was going on vacation over Christmas! My little girl was born Christmas Eve! Just in time! (I should also note that I had a doc apt that morning and she 'stripped my membranes' which is probably more to accredit for getting things going!

  12. I really want to get my daughter into swimming lessons! I agree, it would just be a peace of mind knowing she was comfortable! Especially being in Michigan and close to the lake! What a blessing from you MIL to take Walker for the day! It sounds like he had a great time as well as you! And I'm certain you deserved it! I used some essential oils on my belly that were supposed to move along stalled labor (cleary sage, myrrh, geranium, and lavender are the ones recommended for that). I also bounced on one of those big exercise balls! Hang in there! Your little guy will be here very soon!!!

  13. So excited for you and your boys!! The nurse at my OB's office swears the way to get baby to move along is to take a really warm bath (warmer than normal for pregnancy) and drink an ice cold beer. She said you will not even finish the beer because baby will be makin' a move! I never got to the desperate phase with Jackson, but it was so odd that it definitely crossed my mind to try just because lol good luck!!
