Weekending: Memorial Day Edition

Hey, y'all! I'm keeping this pretty short and sweet today. I actually have mastitis (cue all the sad face emojis here) and have been running a 102.8* fever for the past two days, coupled with severe chills and night sweats. Whew, having a baby isn't for the faint of heart! All of that said, I'm a little thrown off on what day it even is!

Just a little update here:

+ Brandon is off for the next two weeks, and it's wonderful. He's such a huge help with Walker; they go out on little "adventures": looking at airplanes at the airport, running errands, playing soccer outside…all the things I just can't do right now having just had a baby.

+ My sweet friend Liz took Knox's newborn portraits on Saturday morning, and we're in love with them. Here are a few of our favorites:

+ We have been so blessed by our friends and family members who have stopped by to bring us meals for lunch or dinner. Seriously, it's been the best thing to not have to worry about fixing a meal at the end of a long, hectic day.

+ We had our first outing as a family of four yesterday to my in-law's annual Memorial Day party. I spent half of the time upstairs feeding Knox, but it was fun to practice getting two little ones out the door. (But can I please tell you how exhausted I was when we got home…?!)

+ Walker is learning to love his little brother, and it's the sweetest thing. I'm not going to lie, before Knox was born, I was so worried about how I'd love another baby as much as I love Walker. But it's true what everyone told me: your heart and your love just expands. I'm also not going to lie, it's been a tough transition for Walker. He has hit, kicked and scratched his brother (with us sitting right there), and when Brandon asked him why he was doing that, he said, "I'm mad at him." It practically broke my heart. But, slowly but surely, he's learning how to be sweet with him and I think I've said the words "gentle," "sweet" and "softly" about 5,004 times in the last week.

Here's a little photo dump of our last few days:

Practicing his best "Blue Steel" impression ;)

I hope y'all had wonderful Memorial Days celebrating and remembering the reason we celebrate. I'm so thankful for the many men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice so we can have the greatest gift: freedom.
