But like I mentioned in that post, I also am a firm believer in some tried-and-true beauty products that I can only get from department stores and/or Sephora. Yes, some of these may be expensive, but they work!
Here are my top department store beauty products:
-ONE and TWO-
Y'all have recently heard me rave about this shampoo and conditioner (and even the dry shampoo), but it's for good reason: it's awesome. Not only does it smell amazing, it really does give my fine, thin hair lift and volume that stays all day.
I've also told y'all about this texturizing powder recently, and it is the best! Like I said, I have fine, thin hair -- but I also tease my hair at the crown to give it some "oomph." (Hey, I live in Texas! That's what we do!) This stuff gives your hair a little bit of texture and tackiness to work with to tease your hair, or to give it some extra "dirtiness" and workability before doing an updo. In fact, my cousin is a hairstylist and did my hair for my wedding, and she used this stuff all over my head before she did my hair -- and my fine hair didn't budge! A little goes a long way with this, though, so be careful!
Not only does this eye shadow palette last forever, the colors work perfectly with my blue eyes! I also love that it eliminates having to have different jars of eyeshadow throughout my drawer and makeup bag.
I have naturally thin eyebrows, so I fill them in every day with this brow duo. Yes, it's pricey, but I use mine (almost) every day and only recently had to replace it -- after a year! So think of it in those terms. ;) I never feel fully finished unless my eyebrows are done, and this stuff lasts all day -- even in the hot, sweaty Texas summers.
I have used this shade of NARS blush since college, and I adore it. I've tried dupes for it, but none of them last as long as this blush does. It's the perfect pink for my pale skin, and there's just a tiny amount of shimmer, which I appreciate since I was done wearing body glitter in junior high. ;) But seriously, the coverage lasts all day and gives me that perfect glow.
I was given a sample of this at Sephora this winter and immediately went back to buy the full-sized product because it was that awesome. I have combination skin, and this product was perfect for our gross Texas winters to keep me moisturized where I needed it, but not oily. I would slather this on at night and woke up to perfectly smooth, moisturized skin. This is an awesome moisturizer!
Okay, so I have worn this powder since I started wearing makeup in 6th grade. I swear. (I mean, didn't we all start out wearing Clinique?! Ha!) But seriously, I love using this powder at the very end of my makeup routine to top it off, and then throughout the day as needed to combat any shiny areas on my face. The coverage is great -- not too thick or heavy -- and since it's oil-free, it doesn't bother my skin in the least, even in our hot summers. Can't go wrong with this trusty find!
So what about y'all? What are your favorite department store beauty buys?
