Weekending

Happy Monday! We had such a great weekend doing something we haven't done in a long while: spending our entire 2.5 days together as a family. If there's one thing I have learned as I've "grown up" is that family time is so valuable, and we thoroughly enjoyed each other this weekend.

Here's what we were up to:

-FRIDAY-
We joined our friends Ashley (and her daughter Caroline) and Stacy (and her son Silas and daughter Marlee) at the Dallas Zoo! Little did we know that it was field trip day in North Texas, though -- seriously, a zoo employee told us that 4,000 school-aged kids from across our area were descending on the zoo that day. Yikes! But even though it was crazy crowded, we still had a great time together riding the carousel (twice), seeing all of the animals and having a picnic lunch.

We had a super lazy afternoon and evening: Walker and I played with little water guns from the $1 aisle at Target until Brandon came home, and then we revived our traditional Friday Pizza Night and made homemade pizzas together. After Walker went to bed, Brandon and I caught up on a few episodes of "The Tudors," and then called it an early night.

-SATURDAY-
We went to a new-to-us donut shop that was written up in D Magazine, and it was such a fun little breakfast treat! This was Walker's first time eating donuts and donut holes (and getting to go in his jammies!), and he was in love with his sugary breakfast…and proceeded to run around the house doing a high-pitched squeal afterwards. Haha!

We did some little stuff around the house in the morning; watched "Rio" with the little man all cozy in our bed; and took Walker to the park after his nap.

I made this yummy, easy Crock Pot supper and we caught up on some more episodes of "The Tudors" before bed.

-SUNDAY-
As the line in "The Wise Man Built His House Upon the Rocks" said, "The rains came down and the floods came up!" We are expected to get a ton of rain between yesterday and Tuesday, and they weren't kidding. (And we're not even supposed to see the sun until Friday! Womp-womp.) We had major flash-flooding, so we stayed at home in jammies all day, and it was so nice.

I washed ALL THE THINGS: sheets, duvets, towels, clothes, etc. and did a bunch of cleaning around the house, and we were just complete lazy bums.

  1. Looks like you got in a lot of fun stuff before the rains and storms came around! So sorry that it's the kind of rain that Noah would only know what to do with but hopefully it isn't as bad as they're predicting! Stay dry!! And enjoy those donuts :)
