What's Hap-pinning Wednesday: 28-Week Pregnancy Update

Well, I definitely feel like I've grown exponentially since my last post (especially in my face -- why do I get face chub when I'm pregnant?!), but we are officially in the third trimester and I can't believe I can finally say that we're having a baby in TWO MONTHS. It has gone by so much faster this time around, that's for sure.

Date: March 2, 2016

How far along: 28 weeks exactly

Gender: It's a boy!

Total weight gain: 13 pounds

Maternity clothes: Yes, I'm more in maternity clothes now than ever before. Thankfully it's still chilly out and I can get away with maternity leggings or maternity yoga pants. (And I've still been able to wear my beloved Nike shorts on warm days.) My shirts are finally starting to become short because of the belly, so that's been a real joy. I refuse to buy maternity pajamas and instead have just been doing what I did last pregnancy and donning a pair of Brandon's boxers and one of his comfy T-shirts. #sorrynotsorry

Miss anything? Really just feeling like myself again. This trimester I have really started to feel like a stranger in my own body and am just ready to look and feel like myself again. I've had a few moments where I have tried to just go-go-go and do-do-do like I did when I wasn't pregnant, and my body gave that a big, fat N-O, which brought me to tears. I'm normally a stomach sleeper, so I'm missing that, too! (And of course I'm missing a good glass of wine!)

Cravings: My cravings have really subsided recently because I'm to the point where I get really hungry, then eat and feel full instantly (or very uncomfortable if I eat too much).

Movement: Yes! I joke that he's in there throwing bows. That kid can punch, y'all! And sometimes it really hurts! He's most active when I finally sit down at night to rest and when I lay down for the night on my back.

Symptoms: Just fatigue. By the time Walker is down for the night, I just want to sleep. I'm also getting to the point where my back is starting to hurt and I'm very likely going to have to start seeing my chiropractor again.

Belly button in or out? Ummm, flat. It's really an odd look and I'll spare y'all the details!

Wedding rings on or off? On, for now. I'm hoping I can keep them on this pregnancy since they were off about two months before Walker arrived.

Sleep: It has been so-so this entire pregnancy. I will have nights where I sleep like a champ, and then I'll have nights where I toss and turn through the night. (Getting up 3+ times a night to go to the bathroom doesn't help the situation, either!)

Best moment of the week? Having my little family together over the weekend -- just us three -- spending time at the Dallas Zoo. It was gorgeous weather and I enjoying having some much-needed family time.

Exercise: Can I skip this question? I know I should be really diligent about this, but I'm just…not. After chasing a toddler around all day, the last thing I want to do is work out when he goes to bed. I know I'll pay for this once he's born, but until then, pass the Thin Mints. ;)

Anything making you queasy or sick: No

Labor signs: None

Happy or moody most of the time: I think as any pregnant woman can attest, I'm relatively happy, but the second something sets me off, I'm D-O-N-E. I can also cry at the drop of a hat; even the dumbest, stupidest things can make me mad or sad. #hormones

Looking forward to: My doctor's appointment next week! I've officially moved to seeing my doctor every two weeks (which is totally surreal and crazy) so I'm actually looking forward to hearing his heartbeat and seeing him on the ultrasound more often. Unlike with Walker, I have only seen Baby #2 via ultrasound three times, so I can't wait to see him again!

Updates: 21 weeks

Linking up with Jessi and Jenn

  1. 2 months, wow, so exciting. You look so cute in the bump picture.

  2. haha pass the thin mints--amen :) So glad you guys had a nice weekend at the zoo, just you guys. Hopefully you guys get a few more of those before you become a family of four--and I hope that little man stops punching you in the gut from the inside. That doesn't sound fun at all!!
Thanks for linking up with us, as always, friend!

  3. Basically all of these words could be my words! Expect WHY IS NO ONE SELLING THIN MINTS AROUND ME?! When the dr. told us two weeks ago at my appt. that we would have to start coming every two weeks, Nathan's jaw dropped! Granted, we had just wait almost two hours to end up not seeing our own doctor, but that's here nor there. So of course he opted out of coming to my apt. yesterday and I ended up having an extra ultra sound! He was so bummed.

  4. So exciting!!! You look wonderful! Friend, if i am ever pregnant, you can bet I won't give up the thin mints in favor of exercise. No no no.
Sadly, I have had exactly zero opportunities to buy Girl Scout cookies and I am so depressed by this.

  5. I feel like we've barely seen any bump pictures of you, so I'm surprised that you're 28 weeks already!! You look great! And I think chasing around a toddler all day everyday is exercise in itself. You deserve those thin mints. :)

  6. #hormones are the worst. I cried over a cheesecake that I made last night that didn't turn out like I wanted it to. That has seriously been the worst part of my pregnancy, they are uncontrollable at times.

  7. Aw, you look great! It's always tough when the hormones take over, and I can remember mine used to always get up and under my rib-cage which was so painful. Hope everything starts settling soon!

  8. Girl you look fantastic, really! Hormones of course are the worst but I'm glad everything else seems to be moving right along!

  9. So fun for the pregnancy update! I can't believe he will be here in two months - crazy! You guys are always doing the cutest things and dates - I can only imagine how cute it will be for lunch dates with two little boys!

Oh, and you look fabulous btw!

  10. Ah won't be long and he will be here! Pregnancy suits you well seriously.

  11. I absolutely think chasing a toddler when you're 28 weeks pregnant counts as exercise! :)
