What's Hap-pinning Wednesday

It's Wednesday and you know what that means: time to link up with Jenn and Jessi for "What's Hap-pinning Wednesday!"

Here's what's been going on with us:

~Brandon and I are officially obsessed with "Narcos" on Netflix. Granted, it's not for the faint of heart, but we found ourselves saying, "Eh, why not?" last Wednesday night and can't quit watching it now. Do any of y'all watch?

~We are the same way about "The People v. O.J. Simpson." I vividly remember watching that infamous car chase that summer and seeing bits and pieces of the trial on the news when I got home from school, even though I was much too young to fully understand or comprehend what happened. And I'm sorry, but Ross Gellar {David Schwimmer} as the late Robert Kardashian is brilliant in the weirdest way possible.

~Speaking of "infamous," that means you're famous for doing something bad, wrong or not good. Use "famous" for something someone is widely known for in a positive manner. #journalismmajor

~I'm in full-on nesting mode for Baby #2 and seriously want to clean all.the.things. Since we're getting new carpet {as I mentioned in Friday's post}, I can't fully finish decorating his nursery yet, but I'm dying to. And yes, I realize we're crazy to get new carpet when we're having a baby in three months. Le sigh.

~Speaking of baby, any of you mamas out there have or tried the Rock 'N' Play? Before Walker was born, my parents passed us down the handmade cradle that my uncle made for me when I was a baby {and my brothers and sisters also used}. But Walker didn't sleep in it because he had terrible reflux. {Instead he slept between Brandon and me in the Boppy Newborn Lounger…super safe -- insert all sarcasm here -- and moved to his crib at one month old.} ANYWAY. I can't find a cradle mattress or sheets to fit this handmade cradle that won't cost me an arm and a leg; it's not a standard size and nothing in stores (that are standard size and measure 18x36 in.) fits this cradle that is 15x35 in. So, sadly, I think we are going to have to take the cradle back to my parents and instead  buy the Rock 'N' Play. And this is where I need y'all's advice: did you love the Rock 'N' Play? Hate it? Is it worth it? Help!!!

~Still kind of can't get over the fact that I have a two-year-old…who totally looks eight years old in this picture. I mean...

~And that same two-year-old had his very first movie theater experience on Monday, and he did relatively well. But once his snacks were gone, he could have cared less about "Kung Fu Panda 3" and cared a lot more about running up and down the stairs and pushing the buttons on his reclining chair. My friend Ashley and I took Walker and her daughter, Caroline, to this new place near us called Moviehouse & Eatery {such an original name!}. They have "Mommy Mondays" where tickets are $6, the lights are kept a little brighter and the movie volume is turned down a bit. We opted to bring in our own packed lunches for the kiddos {the shame!} instead of purchasing from the menu, but it was a fun time overall. ;)

~I totally confess that I'm dying for an adult beverage at this point in my pregnancy. Once the weather starts warming up here and everyone dashes out to the nearest patio, I ache for an ice cold beer or a chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc. I know it's only for a short while {except 9 months feels like forever}, but man…it's like Chick-fil-A not being open on Sundays: you just want what you can't have.  #threemoremonths

~I have my glucose screening in two weeks and I'm already kind of dreading it. My appointment is at 8:45 a.m. and I know I'm going to be ridiculously starving after fasting for 12 hours. I practically wake up hungry at 6 a.m. every day! I mean, can't they let women doing that screening come in at 7 a.m.? This is totally turning into a "Confessions" post. Whoops!

~Since we're on the topic of confessions, I must confess that I don't understand mean people. Girls especially. I mean, we're in our late 20's and early 30's. Why are we still making hateful, rude or just downright b*tchy comments to each other? Let's all live by the old saying, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Capisce?

~Any of y'all out there read Jenny Steffens Hobick's blog? I found her five years ago when Pinterest got really big and have loved following her. Her recipes are always super easy and delicious! Just thought I'd share after we recently gobbled up her Penne Pasta Pie. Yum!

I hope y'all have a great Wednesday! I can't wait to read what's "hap-pinning" with y'all!

  1. I missed the OJ documentary... So bummed! I've heard so much about it.

  2. I always crave ChikFilA on Sundays, so I can relate on that note, and I empathize with you. At least it's not full on Summer YET, so you have some time before the temptations really set in. All for the best, cutest thing ever tho :)
Walker in the movies--so cute, and I was laughing at your description of all the things he would have rather been doing haha. Thanks for linking up!!

  3. Nathan and I are loving The People vs. OJ! He likes Narcos, too but I couldn't get into it. Too many subtitles. I totally agree about mean girls, can we just not at this point? Sheesh!

  4. We had the RNP and that's what Logan slept in for naps and night time for the first 3 months. We didn't have any problems with it. Logan slept well and it washes up nicely. BUT since using it I've heard that they can be unsafe since they aren't a flat and firm surface. Baby's airways can be blocked if they slump down and that scares me because I definitely saw Logan get slouched down in it and would readjust him on occasion. Long story short. I don't know. I think if your baby has reflux it's great - had a friend that swore by it for her reflux baby. I'm not sure if I'll use it for night time for baby #2 though. Halo makes a bassinet that looks nice, but I think it's pricey. That's my two cents and long ramble that probably didn't help at all. lol. Good luck with that Glucose screening!

  7. So much to comment on here! We are getting new carpet in a week and a half and I'll be 27 weeks so I feel ya on that! It wouldn't be such a pain if we didn't have to pack up almost everything!! Almost everyone I know swears by the rock n play, I'm getting one has a hand me down so I am super grateful for that! I had my glucose test yesterday, drinking the stuff wasn't so bad but I'm with you I was starving by 9:30 when I was done! I went as fast as possible to the nearest chickfila! And yes can't wait for that glorious glass of wine or mich ultra!! 😊😊

  8. We loved the RNP!! We tried to have her sleep in her crib as much as possible but would use the RNP on nights she wasn't having it. It was also used a lot for naps. I'd suggest getting the one that plugs in and rocks itself :)

  9. We used the RNP every day (and night) for 6 months! I would have been totally lost without it. I tell everyone I know to get one. It's so easy to fold up and move from room to room and it was a lifesaver for traveling in the beginning (no worrying that the baby would have a hard time adjusting to a new crib/pack and play).

  10. We're almost done with The Office and I'm dying to start the OJ show and Dowton Abbey. The movie sounds so fun and that's awesome that they make it kid friendly!

  12. We LOVED our Rock N Play... Avery slept in it until she was about 4 months old. I loved having It right by my bed and I could rock it in my sleep ha! I just carried it around the house to whatever room I was in. It was a lifesaver!
