What's Hap-pinning Wednesday: 21-Week Pregnancy Update

Well, I never did a pregnancy update when I was pregnant with Walker, mostly because I was working and too busy and sick to put together a post! But I decided to do a few posts this go-round because I do regret not doing one single one when I was pregnant with Walker!

So here it goes!

Date: January 13, 2016

How far along: 21 weeks exactly

Gender: It's a boy!

Baby size: Large banana, but my pregnancy app said mango last week. These things and their random fruits!

Total weight gain: Five pounds

Maternity clothes: Yes, a mix of maternity clothes {mostly maternity leggings} and non-maternity tops. I started showing a lot quicker this time around than when I was pregnant with Walker, but thankfully it's winter and I can get away with leggings when I need to "dress up." Plus, I'm not working this pregnancy and am typically around the house wearing yoga pants or crops, so it hasn't been as difficult in that realm {so far} this pregnancy.

Miss anything? Of course I'm missing adult beverages, along with sushi and a cold turkey sandwich.

Cravings: Mexican food {specifically beef tacos and Chipotle, weird}; citrus {any and all, including orange juice}; sushi {even though I can't have it}; peanut butter; and anything salty. The sweet stuff like I wanted with my last pregnancy just doesn't sound good to me this time around!

Movement: Yes! He's very active when I finally sit or lay down in the evenings, just like his brother. I felt movement for the first time the day after Christmas, around 18 weeks, so that was really comforting.

Symptoms: Just exhaustion, but that's very likely because I chase after a toddler all day! I was so very sick with Walker for the longest time, and I'm thankful that I haven't thrown up once with this baby! I've been nauseous a few times, but it was nothing the anti-nausea medicine my OB prescribed me couldn't handle. I also don't sleep that great.

Belly button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On, for now. Granted, it's winter and my hands are cold a lot, so that helps. I had to have my rings cut off right after Walker was born {so embarrassing}, so I'm going to be smart this time and just take them off when I need to…especially since Baby #2 will be born in mid-May, right when it starts getting pretty toasty in Texas.

Sleep: Sleep has been so-so during this pregnancy. I get up about two-three times a night to use the restroom, which I didn't do with Walker until late in the third trimester. I'll go days at a time sleeping restlessly and then will get a few nights of hard sleep before starting my restless sleep all over again.

Best moment of the week: Getting Walker well again! He was really sick over the weekend and into the beginning of this week, so it was nice having him feel and act like himself again.

Exercise: Does chasing after a toddler count?! I really need to get back into yoga, but winter has me all: Zzzzzzzzzz at night when Walker goes down.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing has made me queasy or sick this pregnancy {thank the Lord}, but if I wait too long to eat after I wake up in the mornings, I get really light-headed really quickly.

Labor signs? None

Happy or moody most of the time: Pretty happy, but I can cry at the drop of a hat these days. And moody if I don't get my sleep at night!

Looking forward to: My doctor's appointment in two weeks to hear his heartbeat again, and of course, getting to meet him in 19 short weeks!

  1. I'm glad Walker is feeling better! And yes I believe running after a toddler totally counts as exercise...and practice in patience lol. Loving your bump...banana or mango, you're looking great :)

  2. Well, this sounds exactly like my life right now except I don't have a toddler to chase after :) My husband gets so annoyed with the fruit "sizes" on those apps! You look great and I'm so glad to hear that Walker is feeling back to himself!!

  3. So glad you haven't been super sick this time! Hope you get some good sleep soon! I'm sure you are exhausted between being pregnant & chasing Walker (and that definitely counts as exercise!).

  7. You are so tiny and adorable! I definitely took advantage of wearing leggings with most outfits while pregnant. It's the one time where no one every questions it-haha

  8. Love your little bump! It's amazing how pregnancies can be similar/different. With this one I definitely felt like I showed so much sooner, but it was also so similar to my pregnancy with Shep in other ways. It's going to be so fun watching Walker become a big brother!!
