Weekending: Sick Edition

Well, our first weekend back after last week's long week wasn't exactly how I would have imagined it, that's for sure! But that's life with kids, and quite honestly, I think God just knew we needed a low-key weekend.

After joining my friend Ashley and her daughter Caroline at a local trampoline park and lunch at Chick-fil-A, Walker started running a 100* fever…and our weekend was set from there.

The poor little guy started croup-y coughing, crying after each cough, not sleeping and had a continued low-grade fever all weekend. It broke our hearts to see him like that, knowing there wasn't much we could do for him to make it better.

Our weekend pretty much consisted of lots of snot, tissues, laundry, chicken soup, breathing treatments, Tylenol, Pedialyte and Popsicles. To say we're all exhausted is an understatement! But, the little man is slowly on the up-and-up and I'm thankful that this all happened this past weekend and not this coming weekend -- his birthday party weekend!

In other "Weekending" news, I made these yummy treats to have on hand for the week. And let me tell y'all: they're dangerously good! They might not look very appetizing, but trust me when I tell you that I'm having to physically restrain myself from eating the whole pan.

Since we were home all weekend {seriously, I haven't left the house since Friday afternoon…yikes!}, I made lots of homemade dinners and lunches: Pasta with Zucchini and Goat Cheese; steaks with slow-cooker creamed corn; and Chicken Tamale Casserole

I also cleaned and disinfected the entire house, and honestly, if I don't see my washing machine for the rest of my life, I'd be just fine! I got some stuff done for Walker's birthday party this weekend and we did a few things around the house…since we were here and all. ;)

I hope y'all had much more fun weekends than we did! Here's hoping Brandon and I don't catch this nasty virus! Have a great Monday!
