Tuesday Things: Baby Gear for #2

When you get engaged, you saunter into Bed, Bath and Beyond; grab one of those registry guns; and start scanning everything your little heart desires. Towels? Yup, you know you need towels! Onto the registry it goes. Plates? Yup, gonna need those! You pick out a pattern and pray you get all 12 place settings.

But when you see those two little lines come up on that pregnancy test for the very first time, your world is rocked. Or at least mine was. What the heck do tiny humans really need? Yes, they need towels. But what kind? Cotton? Bamboo? What in the world does he/she need to sleep in? You're bombarded with about 5,001 different choices, from a cradle to a bassinet to co-sleeping to
basically nothing because you really don't sleep at all. Bottles? Oh, there are only 200 different brands of those, and about 15 different ounce sizes. And don't get me started on the fact that people actually have an opinion about pacifiers. WHO KNEW?!

So you go register at Buy Buy Baby for 30,007 different items that you think you'll need {and of course the baby will love each and every one them and use them daily for the first year… ;)}, only to find that the child despises the Miracle Blanket and only wants to sleep in the Swaddle Pod. Or that the Nuk pacifiers aren't for them, and they'd rather suck on Soothie pacifiers. And then you're on Amazon at 3 a.m. while nursing your two-month-old scouring the site for breathable bumpers. {Just me?}

And then comes baby #2. Yes, your world is still quite rocked when the word "Pregnant" appears on the pregnancy test at 4 a.m., but you're a tad more confident. You've been there. You know you carried, birthed and nursed a newborn and got through the first crazy year with your very first baby, and you know you can and will be able to do it again. {Still doesn't make the birthing process and knowing your precious sleep is about to be all screwed up again any better, though.} You've hopefully saved some stuff from Baby #1 that you can use for Baby #2; stuff you know worked, stuff you can depend on; and stuff when you're bringing down from the attic brings back a flood of memories and "I can't believe they were ever this little"'s.

But you're still gonna need some stuff. Here's what we've put on a wish list for Baby #2, aside from the extremely generous gift of diapers and wipes. {Seriously, best gift ever.}

We used the Motorola MBP36S monitor with Walker, but now that we'll be having two little ones close in age, I'd really love to have the Summer Infant Dual-View monitor to be able to see both babies at once on one screen. It's hard enough to keep up with one screen, and I'd be afraid to look at the wrong one in the middle of the night to figure out who's crying.

We used the Britax B Agile 35 travel system with Walker, and I absolutely loved it! Since it's still safe to use, we will use this for Baby #2, as well. However, I need a stroller that can accommodate both kiddos simultaneously. After a ton of research, I finally decided on the Joovy Caboose VaryLight Double Tandem Stroller for many reasons, but a big one {aside from the fact that it can hold both of my little ones!} is that it can adapt to my Britax B-Safe 35 infant car seat using these adapters

This OXO Roomi Candela nightlight was a lifesaver for us in the early months of middle-of-the-night feedings; it was low light enough to not bother Brandon while he was sleeping in bed right next to me, and it transitioned to a nightlight for Walker's big-boy room. Since we're using our original one for Walker's room, I'd love another one to help with the middle-of-the-night feedings for this baby!

We used {and still use to this day} the Graco Sweet Slumber sound machine for Walker. Since our house is so little, we need something to drown out the noises that can be heard all over the house. We have seen and heard a ton of positive reviews about the Marpac DOHM-DS sound machine, so we'd love to have it for Baby #2!

Walker absolutely adored Wubbanub pacifiers, so we're hoping Baby #2 does, too! I'm a little weird about reusing pacifiers {and bottle nipples}, so I've added a few of these to our Wish List.

I love the Diaper Genie, even though I always curse it when it comes time to buy refills for the darn thing. But! It does its job and conceals the horrible smells, so I guess it can stay. Except for the fact that, oh yeah!, I'm still using it for Walker since we're slowly grasping potty training, and to be quite frank, his has seen better days. I'd love a new one for Baby #2!

I loved our Dr. Brown's bottle warmer, but it got so disgusting after about a year of using it. There would be nights I'd forget to pop the cap on the bottle and it leaked all over the thing, and there's just no not smelling sour formula. Yuck! So, all of that to say, I tossed our old one and definitely need a new one!

After trying many {and I do mean many} different humidifiers for Walker, we found that a cheapie worked the best! Since we still use his humidifier when he's sick, I'm terrified about having one child have to go without if he or she is sick, too. So, as an added bonus, I'd love to have an extra humidifier to have on hand because you just never know!

  1. Is it weird that I'm really excited about a stroller for when that time comes for me lol! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  2. How much fun it must be picking out things this time around when you know what you've used before! So excited for you :)

  3. I'm so excited for your second and can't wait to see your family grow. CHP loves Walker and thinks he's the funniest on snapchat!

    Not trying to change your mind, but if you're still debating a diaper pail I really like my Ubbi. It's way more expensive but you can use regular trash bags so in the long run it saves money. I also use the FreshWave deodorizers from target to put in the bottom of the pail to prevent any smells.

    I can't wait to find out if you're having a boy or girl!! Are you finding out this time?
