What's Hap-"Pinning" Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!

I'm linking up with Jessi and Jenn for my first "What's Hap-'Pinning' Wednesday." Thank you for reading along!

We've had a pretty last fun couple of days, and a certain little boy starts his once-weekly Mother's Day Out today! I'll be sure to post an adorable first day picture on Friday, so stay tuned for that. ;) I'll be trying not to cry!

Here's a quick picture from before we left the house for his Meet the Teacher event last week:

I mentioned two weeks ago that we've been working on a little "Tot School," and it's actually been pretty fun. My Journalism major and Corporate Communications minor did nothing to prep me for teaching whatsoever, so I feel like I'm learning right alongside Walker. {And I've gained a major respect for teachers who do this as their full-time job every. single. day. Especially to the little ones!}

We've been focusing on learning one color a week and doing everything surrounding that color during the week. This past week was yellow, so we finger painted with yellow {washable} finger paint; colored a duck yellow; read books that had yellow covers {namely "Curious George Visits the Zoo", "Baby's First Bible," "The Little Engine That Could" and an old Golden Books set that was mine when I was a little girl} and did activities in our "Teach My Baby" learning kit, which comes in a yellow box.

And the finger painting was all fun and games until a certain someone decided to eat it. Yuck!

Brandon and I are continuing to binge-watch "Friday Night Lights," of which we're both officially obsessed, as y'all know having read here the past two weeks!

We are continuing to plan for our trip to New York City in December. I can't wait to celebrate Brandon's big 3-0; see my brother, who is doing the Baylor in New York program; and see NYC at Christmas - something I've always wanted do to! {And if y'all have any recommendations of where to eat in the city, please let me know!}

I'm willing it to be fall with my wardrobe {a bit}, even though it's still in the mid 90s in Dallas right now. I'm loving my distressed jeans from Old Navy, of all places! They're so comfy and fit perfectly. I'm between a size 2-4, and I purchased a 4 in these and they fit just right, so you might want to size up one if you buy them. I'm thankful I didn't buy a smaller size or I'd be sucking myself into them! And I've been getting a ton of wear out of my nude wedges I purchased from Nordstrom this summer. Best money I ever spent because I wear them almost every day! {They're no longer available online at Nordstrom, but Amazon does have them in various colors!}

I found the cutest little nap mat, lunch box and backpack for Walker for Mother's Day Out, all from Amazon {of course!} since we signed him up at last minute. I'm loving still being able to pick it out because I know in a few short years, he'll be picking out all his stuff and won't let me have any input. And it will probably be character stuff, of which I am just not a fan! Ha! #stopgrowingup

And finally, I've been cleaning like a mad woman with Parsley Plus, which Christina from Carolina Charm recommended a couple of months ago. It smells so good; much better than the harsh-smelling 409 for Granite I'd been using. Even Brandon told me the other day when I was wiping down the kitchen, "That really does smell good!" I use it for the granite in our kitchen and hall bath, and the marble in our bathroom. It works just as well as the 409 I was using, but without all of the harsh chemicals - and smell.

I buy mine on Amazon {seriously, what did I do before Amazon??} because it's not sold in any of our local grocery stores. Sadly, it's not Prime-eligible, but it's definitely worth the shipping time and price!

I can't wait to read what's "hap-'pinning'" with you guys! Happy Wednesday!

  7. I am so behind on reading my blogs haha! Anyways, you will have a blast in NYC at Christmas, we have been quite a few times. We really like going to Serendipity. If you put your name down, there is usually a really long line so we go eat at the cafe down the street, then you can have dessert at Serendipity. Also, LOOOOOVE me some FNL!! Tim Riggins is so great to look at!! I'm re-watching it now! Ya, my Journalism degree didn't prepare me for teaching my tot but I did teach high school for five years as the Yearbook and Newspaper teacher... that didn't prepare me either haha! It is completely different teaching a toddler and your own child. But I love the idea of doing a color a week, that is a great way to organize plans and lessons. I have found some great ideas on Toddler Approved. I get her daily emails. I bet you are having fun and doing great!!
