Thoughts for Thursday: Wedding Dreaming

Brandon and I will be married for five years next month. I can hardly believe five years have come and gone so quickly! On one hand, though, I feel like it has been 10 years, and on the other hand, I feel like it has only been about two. As they say, time flies when you're having fun!

Since I've got our anniversary on the brain {and just talked about what to wear to a wedding yesterday}, I wanted to link up with Annie and Natalie today to reminisce about our wedding -- in photos!

Our wedding was one of the happiest days of my life. And, it was pre-Pinterest and my mom {and her best girlfriends} did it all -- I truly loved it! Since I'm from a small town, we had a relatively large wedding. {Being from a little town makes it hard to not invite people!} Since it was big, my mom had the genius idea to basically flip-flop our wedding. Let me explain:

We had our rehearsal on a Friday evening, followed by our rehearsal dinner at my grandparents' beautiful home that night. But, here's where we flip-flopped: we did all of our eating, drinking and dancing that night with our bridal party, extended families and family's best friends. And then, we had our wedding at 2 p.m. on a Saturday, followed by a cake and punch reception in the church fellowship hall. Brandon and I were out the door by 4 p.m. and on our way to Houston, where we spent the night and then flew to Antigua the next morning!

Honestly, I wouldn't do our wedding any other way. It was so nice to have all of our closest people there the night before; our nerves were calmed; we got all of the toasts out of the way; we danced until the wee hours of the morning; and just generally had a wonderful time with the people we truly cared about and are closest to. Then, we had our big reception immediately after the wedding, where, if you've had a wedding before, know you are pulled into 5,001 different directions, don't get to eat much and it goes by in a blur. It worked out so well for us and I loved it!

But all that talk is nothing without the pictures, right? Here are some of my favorites from our wedding weekend:

Thank you for peeking into our special day! Cheers to {almost} five years!

  7. I was going to comment on your post about a week ago when you showed one or two wedding photos and say, "We need a full wedding post!" Great minds think alike. You should totally pin these because they're completely pin-worthy! LOVE all the decor!
