Weekending

Well, Happy Monday, indeed! It was quite a whirlwind weekend, celebrating our new adventure and simultaneously saying goodbye our old one. But alas, here we are! It's definitely weird not sitting in an office this morning -- especially since it's the first day of school for so many in this area. But to be quite honest, having worked in the public school system and having had Spring Break, Thanksgiving break, Christmas break, etc. off, I feel like it's just another holiday. I'm sure it will feel "real" in a couple of weeks. But until then, here's how we spent our weekend!

Per usual, I'm linking up with Biana and Meghan today.

-FRIDAY-
Brandon had been traveling for work all week, so it was an extra exciting Friday because he was coming home!

I had such a sweet "Goodbye Day" at work: Savannah brought me coffee and left a sweet note on my desk; she and Liz took me to lunch at Mellow Mushroom; and both Walker and I received such precious gifts from his teachers. I definitely cried all day long! It was a very bittersweet day. Truthfully, saying goodbye to Liz practically broke my heart. I'm truly not quite sure what I'm going to do not seeing her every. single. day., but I'm thankful we have turned into "framily" {friends + family = framily}, so nothing is going to change except that we don't see each other 24/7! {And I totally credit my Mom with the "framily" reference. I grew up with her best friends -- our framily -- and am so thankful I now have mine of my own! Liz, Susana, Savannah, Lindsey and Kimmie: I'm looking at you!}

Anyway, when I walked in the door at home, I was surprised by Brandon with a cookie cake, a bouquet of roses and some balloons. We died laughing at the "Happy Retirement to You!" one. Once I saw it, Brandon said, "They were out of 'Congratulations!' so…"

That night, I ran to the grocery store for ingredients to supper: salmon, truffled mushroom risotto, asparagus and of course, wine! We bathed Walker, got him in bed, watched some DVR'd TV and went to bed.

-SATURDAY-
Walker surprised us and slept in until nearly 7:30 a.m.! It was so nice and definitely a nice little gift. Brandon made us all breakfast and we spent the morning cleaning up around the house.

I decided to do things I haven't done in, well…ever…and dusted all of the wooden blinds in our house; organized and purged Walker's book collection{s}; and cleaned out Walker's closet.

After lunch, we went to our friends Brandon and Kimmie's house to catch up with them, and then ran some errands.

Walker took a great afternoon nap while we {finally} started watching "Friday Night Lights," and then we grilled steaks and had those + sweet potatoes and steamed broccoli for supper.

-SUNDAY-
We went to church, came home for lunch and then ran some quick errands before coming home to take naps. I love lazy Sundays!

I made Salsa Verde Chicken Enchiladas, The Pioneer Woman's Mexican Rice and refried black beans for supper and we just relaxed and watched some more "Friday Night Lights."

I hope y'all had great weekends!
