Happy Friday!

Well, this is it. My last day in the office. My last day in an office.

As excited as I am about my new journey of staying at home with Walker, I am a little emotional about leaving my sweet friends. Especially Liz. It's not too often that you find a best friend at work {who has a baby two days before you, delivered by the same doctor as you, is on maternity leave the same time as you, and whose child goes to the same daycare as yours}. To say I'm going to miss seeing her every day would be the understatement of the year. I'm thankful she lives only 11 short miles from me and there's always the weekend for us to hang out and catch up over a glass of wine. Or two. ;)

And on a completely shallow note, I'm going to miss my child-free errand-running at lunch; having child-free doctor's appointments that I could schedule during lunch; and child-free lunches with my gals. Walker will be going everywhere with me now, and I'm kind of excited to have him as my little sidekick each and every day.

But enough of this sappiness! I've already cried today and can't cry anymore.

Moving on!

Have y'all seen this article floating around the Internet? From the butterfly clips to mocha lipsticks to Claire's and all of the teenage magazines, this article had me rolling. So true!

I was thinking this week {after Tuesday's post} about weddings. Mine, in particular, of course, and then just weddings in general. I started asking some of my girlfriends, "If you had to do it all over again, would you have the same, big, lavish wedding?" Almost all of them responded, "No." Some of them said they would have gone down to the courthouse, taken the money their parents offered them for the wedding and put a down payment on a house; some of them said they wished they would have gone, just the two of them, to a remote island and tied the knot; and some of them said they would have just invited less people and done things differently. I found it so interesting how our thoughts and opinions have changed now that we're in our upper 20's and early 30's as opposed to young 20's!

As much as I absolutely loved my wedding -- every single beautiful detail of it -- I always wish I would have had a smaller destination wedding and taken more time to focus on our marriage vs. the wedding. Because isn't that what it's ultimately all about?

After seeing this recipe for homemade Thin Mints, I've already added the ingredients to my grocery list and think they'll be on the agenda for this weekend. Because, I'm not trying to lose weight or anything.

Did any of y'all watch The Real Housewives of New York City Reunion this week? Holy craziness, y'all! I thought I liked LuAnn, but her true colors have shown through this season. And as much as Bethenny was driving me crazy earlier in the season, I'm actually feeling really sorry for her in regard to her divorce. These people are all just crazy!

  1. Thank you, sweet friend! I wish I can put it all into words just how much I'm going to miss having a best friend at work every day. However, I'm extremely happy for you and your family that you get to do this! We will keep in touch and must plan our a family get together before you leave today! Love you!

  2. Good luck today - it's a tough choice but definitely the right one for you!! And holy crap your wedding photos are gorgeous!! xo, biana -BlovedBoston

  3. I watched RHONY this season and do not like LuAnn! She says she classy but she's the opposite! I like Bethenny and Carol a lot! Oh and Kristen, too!

  4. Best of luck today!! Being able to stay home will be so wonderful. Having a work bff is the best. Mine left a few years ago to stay home with her son and we text all the time. We try to see each other once a month. I miss her everyday. I was never a big fan of Luann and after this season I'm definitely not.. She totally showed her true colors this season.

  5. Aww, leaving work friends is the worst. I still miss my work bffs from my old job, and it's been 2+ years! We all make an effort to keep in touch, though, and that definitely helps. I hope your transition to SAHMhood is as smooth as possible! Oh, and I definitely had 90% of the items in that Buzzfeed article! THE PENCIL GRIPS! Omg. :)

  6. Yay for your last day! I'm sure it will be an adjustment but I'm sure you'll love it :) If that thin mint recipe turns out well please share, my husband would LOVE that! I haven't watched the RHONY reunion yet but plan to catch up this weekend :) Sounds like it was pretty crazy!

  7. Yay for your last day! Your wedding photos are so gorgeous! I really want to try that thin mint recipe. Hope you have a great weekend. :)

  8. Happy last day of work!! I'm with you on feeling emotional about it - I was a wee bit sad last night missing my work girls and the excitement of a new year. But obviously so excited to get to stay home but it is an adjustment for sure. Thank goodness for texting and picture messaging ;) have a great first week home mama!

  9. Your wedding pictures are GORG! Congratulations on officially becoming a SAHM! I can't wait to hear how it goes! Xoxo

  10. LOVE your wedding pics! (I actually tried that dress on! So fun!) I think I'd agree with the scaling down my wedding aspect but other than that I'm not sure I'd change much. And girl - I felt the same way leaving my job to be a SAHM with Miss A but it has been the absolute best decision! I wish we were neighbors! haha Hope yall had a great weekend! xo

  11. Love that Seventeen article! So funny! Also, I totally agree with you, I definitely would have done a smaller, more simple of a wedding. Things were so stressful leading up to that day I think it would have been much easier with something more simple. But that day was soooo much fun and I was much more relaxed than I thought I would be. Loved seeing your wedding photos!
