Weekending | Last One for August

Happy Monday! Can y'all believe it's the last one in August? {Because I sure can't.} Forgive the quality of half of my pictures on this post; we're having issues with our SD card reader and the laptop…ugh!

Linking up with Biana and Meghan today!

Walker and I met a new friend for a play date and breakfast at Chick-fil-A, which clearly wore him out because he came home and took a 1.5-hour nap! Brandon had a half day at work, so we all had lunch when he got home, ground some of the yummy coffee he brought home from his recent business trip, and then took Walker to open gym at Gymboree Play & Music

That night, our friends Brandon and Kimmie {and their daughter Emily} came over to hang out. It was so nice to catch up with our friends over some wine on the back patio when the babies had gone to bed!

We were complete lazy bums all. day. long. and it was amazing! Brandon and I both took naps when Walker took his two, and we feel so much better going into this week well-rested. That evening, my brother- and sister-in-law brought our niece, Ellie Kate, over to play with Walker. These sweet cousins had so much fun together, and we enjoyed catching up with Jeff and Becca!

I made a super easy supper of spaghetti, veggies and garlic bread, and then Brandon and I watched a Cowboys preseason game in bed after Walker was down for the night. We were asleep before 10 p.m. {I'm telling you: LAZY BUMS.}

We went to church, then came home, had lunch and rested for a bit.

After Walker and my nap, we took the little guy out to Founders Plaza at DFW Airport to watch the planes take off and land -- AKA: Walker's favorite activity!

After a super easy, yummy supper, Brandon and I got Walker down, then caught up on some of our DVR'd shows and went to bed. It was a super lazy weekend, and I loved every minute of it!

Have a great week!

Happy Friday, y'all! I hope you had a great week! Let's get to this:

We made it through our first full week of being at home! It was definitely an adjustment, but I'm loving more time with Walker. Of course, I'm such an organizational freak, I have written and re-written schedules for both of us so we have some consistency to our days. We played with taking away Walker's morning nap, but my active little guy made it quite clear he still needed it! So, all of that to say, it was just a lot of trial-and-error, but we'll get it! In the meantime, we have had lots of fun playing with chalk {and chalking all over himself, my car, me, the garage floor…}; visiting some local play places with friends; going to the library; taking walks; playing outside, doing a little bit of "Tot School" and joining a Gymboree Play & Music class.

I bought this "blardigan" from Nordstrom and an officially obsessed with it. It is so comfy, soft and is the perfect length to be able to wear with leggings and still have my bum covered. Now, if the weather in Texas would just get cool enough so I can wear it…

I'm still pretty obsessed with "Friday Night Lights" and have been going to bed way too late for my liking this week because we've been binge-watching it. We're almost through the first season, and can I please say that Lyla's father drives me crazy?! And all these girls are loving them some Tim Riggins, but I'm googly-eyed over Coach Taylor! ;) {Why did I wait so long to watch this show…?}

I have told y'all about my love for Ebates before, but seriously y'all, I'm obsessed. All you do with Ebates is go to, type the name of the store you're wanting to buy something from {e.g. Old Navy, Amazon, Nordstrom, etc.} and it shows you how much cash back per purchase they're offering. You click that, it opens the site in a new page, and voilĂ : you have earned cash back on your purchase! They send you a check once a quarter, and I like to tell myself I'm just saving us money! Ha! In six short months, I have earned $67.56 just by going through Ebates to shop online -- which is practically the only way I shop these days. Seriously, it's the best. Click here to sign up; it's totally free and who doesn't like a little extra spending money {or "mad money" as my grandparents and great-grandparents called it}?!

I tried to clean out my closet this week, and it just was a disaster. Figuratively, not literally. I couldn't seem to part with hardly anything! Do any of y'all do this?! I seriously felt like this:

Have a great weekend!

Thoughts for Thursday | Fall Things

I know it's all over the blogosphere, but I am so beyond ready for fall. Sweating my butt off on the short walk from Babies 'R' Us to the car is not cutting it for me.

What does cut it for me? Linking up with Annie and Natalie to discuss dreaming about all things fall:

Sigh, isn't this quote so true? October is my absolute favorite month {it doesn't hurt that my anniversary is in October, too} and I just can't wait to turn the calendar to Oct. 1.

So what can I not wait for -- aside from the cooler weather?

Eating too many sweets, including these Candy Corn & White Chocolate Softbatch Cookies...

Decorating for fall around my house and finally getting to write a precious "fall" message on my chalkboard...

Taking Walker to the pumpkin patch {click here to see our visit to the pumpkin patch last year!}...

More fall decorating, of course...

Fall clothes! Boots, scarves, sweaters, jackets…ahh, I can't wait!

And of course, my very favorite fall treat {aside from candy corn}: chocolate chip pumpkin brownies

I can't wait to make Brandon get all of my fall stuff down out of the attic. ;) What are you excited about for fall?

What's Up Wednesday: August 2015

Happy Wednesday! I'm joining together with Shay, Mel and Sheaffer for "What's Up Wednesday"...

…to answer the following questions:

So let's get to it!

{1} What We're Eating This Week:
We've been eating a lot of yummy suppers so far this week, including:

And steaks, accompanied with this yummy mushroom truffle risotto

{2} What I'm Reminiscing About
After binge-watching "Friday Night Lights" this weekend and every night this week, I'm reminiscing about high school and wishing I lived in a small town like the one I grew up in! {Seriously, I watch this show and keep saying, "This. is. Livingston!"} My 10-year high school reunion is this fall and I'm part excited, part nervous and part "I know I'm going to want to move to a small town stat" after going.

My cousin Robert and me at high school graduation

{3} What I'm Loving
This one's pretty easy! I'm loving my new role {as in, I'm only three days into it} as a stay-at-home mom to Walker. I'm truly enjoying getting to spend more one-on-one time with him, and I am loving the slower pace of life after an extremely hectic last three years working in school PR {and five years before that working for a PR agency}.

{4} What We've Been Up To
We haven't been up to that much, truthfully: play dates with friends; spending lots of time together; doing things around the house I haven't had the chance or time to do in a while; running errands and doing craft projects. It's so hot outside, we've really been trying to take it easy!

{5} What I'm Dreading
Walker has his very first dentist appointment today, and I'm dreading how it's going to go. I'm praying for no tantrums, screams or flat-out refusals to go through with it {from him, of course!}. But, it's a pediatric dentist and I keep telling myself they surely must see that all the time…right?!

{6} What I'm Working On
I'm still working on trying to lighten up the house and get rid of some of the dark colors we've had in here for a while. {Isn't it funny how your taste just changes?} Here are some of the recent minor updates:

{7} What I'm Excited About
Brandon's 30th birthday is in December and my brother is doing the Baylor in New York program, so we're taking a trip to the Big Apple in December to celebrate Brandon's big 3-0 and also see my brother. So excited about Christmas in New York!

{8} What I'm Watching/Reading
Of course, we're still bingeing on "Friday Night Lights," and I'm still getting caught up on the RHONY reunions. I'm definitely looking forward to "Ladies of London" coming back next month! On the book side of things, I'm reading Dr. James Dobson's "Strong-Willed Child," because I definitely have one of those! ;)

{9} What I'm Listening To
Since I'm no longer driving 40 minutes round-trip every day, I haven't been listening to nearly as much radio as I used to! My favorite song right now is Omi's "Cheerleader." It's on constant repeat in my house. And of course, Walker has me listening to his favorite CD every chance he gets as we run errands. :)

{10} What I'm Wearing
Well, my clothes definitely are a little more fun these days! Let's be honest: I'm typically in yoga pants and a T-shirt {because it's hotter than Hades outside…#Texas}. But when I'm not, I've been having some fun with some new non-work outfits {and I can't take a selfie to save my life…}:

{11} What I'm Doing This Weekend
We don't have any big plans, and for that, I'm thankful! Our friends are coming over for some wine on the patio on Friday night, and my brother- and sister-in-law are coming over with our niece so the cousins can have a little play date on Saturday, but as of right now, that's all that's on our agenda and I'm thrilled!

{12} What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month
It's totally cheesy, but I'm looking forward to the Season 2 premiere of "Ladies of London" and all of our fall shows to come back. I'm also looking forward to the long Labor Day weekend when Brandon will be home with us all day, and my mom's birthday!

{13} Bonus Question: What's My Favorite Back-to-School Tradition
Growing up, my parents always took our first day of school picture by the huge pine tree in the front yard of their old house. I can't find any of my first day of school pictures in front of the pine tree on my computer to share, but I do have this picture: my sister and my last picture in front of the old pine tree. You see, my parents moved a few years ago and we had to get one last picture there. {And yes, I was newly pregnant and super emotional here!}

When I was in school -- especially in the late 90's and early 00's when I was super worried about my shellacked hairsprayed hair -- I would give my parents attitude about going outside and taking a first day of school picture in the raging humidity. But now, as an adult with a child of my own, I so appreciate those yearly pictures in front of that tree. When they moved, I totally felt like Annie Banks in "Father of the Bride: Part II" when they were moving and she said she "only took a whole roll" of pictures of the tree. Ha!

Have a happy Wednesday!
