Thoughts for Thursday: Christmas in July

Linking up with Annie and Natalie today!

I know you're looking at the title of this post and thinking, "You're mad, woman. Already thinking about Christmas? In July?" And my response to that is YES. A big, resounding "yes."

I've always been a planner and I like to stay on top of things. I'm one of those who makes a list just to check things off of it.

And one of my favorite things is to be completely finished with Christmas shopping well before the pumpkins are even out at Hobby Lobby. {Even though I'm sure they're probably already out now...}

I do communications for a school district, so when kids {and their parents} are vacationing, we're quietly making communications plans for the next school year...and there's a lot of down time, which I love. So, for the past three summers, I have spent that down time scouring the Internet and purchasing my Christmas gifts. When they come in, I store them away in my secret gift hideaway and then wrap them closer to Christmas.

I've told y'all time and time again that we have Amazon Prime and it's probably the best money I've ever spent. {Not a paid post, just my own personal thoughts...although I'd be more than happy if Amazon would pay me to voice my opinion on their awesomeness!}
I order whatever I want to order and *most of the time* it comes in within two days, if it qualifies for Prime. It's awesome! So, between that and Etsy, that's how I celebrate my Christmas in July: from the solitude of my office, jamming out to Jimmy Buffett on Pandora, wearing sandals and planning for a holiday five months away.

So, with all of that said, I'm completely finished buying for Walker this Christmas. And this is how I feel about that:

I still have other family members to go, but man, it feels good knowing Santa has already finished with our family for this year...and I can budget other things around the holiday season when wallets are typically a little stretched for everyone.

But all that talk's nothing without sharing a few gift ideas, right? Here are a few for toddler boys...and many that Santa will be bringing Walker this year:

one || two || three || four || five

six || seven || eight

nine || ten || eleven || twelve

  1. This is great forward thinking! I love being so well prepared too - although the online shopping isn't as great in SA! x

  2. Love this and wish I was better at buying early...what I struggle with is buying for other family members. If I buy them something now just guessing what they may like, what happens when come November people start sharing Christmas lists and wants. Do you have this problem? Just me?
