Way Back Wednesday: London {and Italy} Calling

In the summer of 2007, I packed my bags and got on a plane bound for London (with a week-long pitstop in Italy first) to participate in a study abroad program. I was rooming with a friend of a friend and had no idea what this study abroad program would be like, but I was excited! I had always wanted to visit Italy and Great Britain, and this was my chance!

I still can't believe this was eight years ago. And, as a parent now myself, I can't believe my parents let a 20-year-old go across the world alone. Granted, Baylor's Study Abroad Program is amazing -- I can't say enough good things about it. But still. The best part? My roommate -- the friend of a friend -- is actually now one of my very best friends. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding and in fact, I'm texting her as I write this post. Ha!

So let's take a walk down memory lane, shall we? {And let me just put it out there that I had a HORRIBLE hair cut. I had recently broken up with a crazy on-again, off-again boyfriend and just needed a change. And apparently that meant an awful haircut. But I digress.}

We flew from Houston to Rome, and spent a few days in Rome, then Florence, then to Pisa, Stresa, and Lake Como; finally flying out of Milan to London.

Aside from London {of course}, Florence and Lake Como were my absolute favorites. I definitely want to go back again someday, but this time taking Brandon. My memories are slowly starting to fade away, and I want to go back to see it all again!

We hopped on a plane from Milan to Heathrow, where we spent a month in London. We had class for 2-4 hours a day, and then the rest of the day was ours! It was the best summer of my life.

Can I please go back now?!

  2. Wow, what a phenomenal trip! We went to London for our honeymoon and fell in love with it. I'd really like to go back to explore more of England one day. Thanks for sharing :)
