Recent Walker Favorites

One of my favorite things to do when I was pregnant was to scour the blogosphere looking for moms' favorite things for their little ones. They were so great at the first year, but then I couldn't really find much after that. And since I'm a first-time mom, I'm all about buying what works for other moms to see if my kid will like it/use it and if it will work on him! {And you know what I've noticed? The older kids get, the brighter and more obnoxious all the colors get on their toys. Ha!}

So here are Walker -- and my! -- recent favorite 18-month{ish} products:

one || two || three

four || five

six || seven || eight

My aunt gifted us this book at my "Books" baby shower, and we recently put it into Walker's book rotation. {We switch books and toys out every few months so he is constantly reading/playing with different things.} Anyway, he absolutely loves this book and will bring it to us to "read" with him. It's a great way for them to learn more words and sounds animals make!

We have used this sound machine since the day we brought Walker home from the hospital. Our house is little, so you can hear what's going on in the kitchen, living room and dining room from his bedroom. It's great to drown out the noise! Since we've been traveling more lately, we always take this with us wherever we go. I'm a big proponent of keeping things as similar traveling as they are at home, and this is one way to do that. {Plus, it's nice in hotel rooms to drown out the noise of a noisy toddler rolling around in the Pack 'n' Play!}

I use my Camelbak at work every day to ensure I drink enough water daily. When Walker saw me pull it out of my giant work bag a few weeks ago, he was intrigued. I didn't think he'd quite grasp how to suck the water out, since you have to pinch the top with your teeth and then drink. But let me tell you what, I looked over and he was chugging the water. I was so surprised! So, I hopped on Amazon in the middle of a meeting {whoops!} and ordered this little kid Camelbak for Walker. He loves it! We take it with us in the car on the way to school, and then I bring it in my office with me for the day and fill it up with cold water before I leave to go get him. It's nice to have for him on a hot summer day...especially since he just comes off the playground when I go pick him up each day!

In his new class, Walker has to feed himself with a fork and/or spoon. We had some spoons, but they had a longer handle and were hard for him to maneuver. So, I purchased these spoons and forks that have a shorter handle, and he's doing great with them! I bought this brand because I had previously purchased their divided plates, which we use daily and love. And what I love about them is they're made in the USA from recycled milk jugs and are BPA-free. Pretty cool, huh?

My mother-in-law gifted Walker with this CD for Easter, and he's obsessed. If you grew up going to church and Sunday School, you very well may know many of these songs, too! He will point to the radio and sign "please" the second we get in the car each day, and as soon as it comes on, he starts dancing and clapping to the music. And as much as I admit I get a little tired of "I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy Down in My Heart," I love that this is helping hide the Word in his little heart!

Walker's teachers have this bubble machine at school and turn it on when the kids are outside playing. My kid is absolutely obsessed with bubbles -- any type. So of course, he loves this bubble machine! I bit the bullet and ordered it on Amazon for ourselves, and it came in on Wednesday. Brandon took him outside to play with it while I was cooking supper, and the kid was overjoyed. It's the little things in life!

I -- excuse me, Santa -- put this toothbrush in his stocking, and it's great helping Walker learn to brush his teeth. The poor child only has five teeth {I don't get it...}, so we're still using this toothbrush until more come in, and then we'll purchase a regular, kid-size, soft-bristled toothbrush. This is another thing that he'll point to as soon as we get in the bathroom and will sign "more" and "please" really quickly. I'm glad he likes brushing his teeth...and I hope this enthusiasm carries over to his first dentist appointment in August! Ha!

And lastly, these stacking cups are awesome. This was another Santa gift, and Walker loves them. Other than stacking them, of course my child walks around the house banging two of the cups together and practically breaking my ear drums. I like that they click together, they're big enough that they don't go hiding in all the little cracks and crevices. I'm sure you moms know exactly what I mean!

And be sure to check out my little sidebar over there to your left to look at all of my other favorite things! :)
