Influenster How-To

When Sarah reached out to me and asked me to do a post about Influenster and how it works, I happily obliged!

Like Sarah, I was a little confused by the site at first, but after asking some questions of some fellow bloggers, I think I've got it {somewhat} figured out.

My friend Savannah sent me an invitation to Influenster. If you need an invitation to get started, click here

Here's some basic information:
Influenster is a product testing panel that allows people to give feedback about products. In a very basic sense, Influenster sends people free stuff in hopes they will provide honest feedback about it to hype up the product. Got that? Okay, here's how to use it.

How to use it:
Once you receive your invitation, get your profile set up. Include a picture, and be sure to connect all of the social media accounts you have under the "Social Impact" page. When you connect your social media accounts, it boosts your Social Impact on the site. This helps them determine if you get items like Vox Boxes. If you're a blogger, be sure to link your blog and include the Influenster badge on your blog's sidebar! {Also, follow them on Twitter and like them on Facebook to get exclusive information about campaigns!} Additionally, invite your friends; you gain more points when you do.

Then, click on your profile and then select "Badges." Then, select "Unlock Badges." Here is where you answer questions and review products to earn a certain badge. Basically, the more badges you have, the better. This lets Influenster know what types of things you're interested in so they can match you with appropriate campaigns. Once you submit a review, you get points toward that badge. When you get to 100 points {from answering questions and writing reviews}, you receive that badge. You want to make sure that you keep your badges in the green: your Expert, Lifestyle and Campaign badges. The more in-the-green they are at all times, the higher your likelihood of receiving a Vox Box.

You can also click on your profile and then select "Snaps." Snaps are Influenster's way of learning more about you and your profile. You answer these honestly and it helps the company pair you with an appropriate campaign.

What also helps you gain a Vox Box is writing reviews about products - ones you love and ones you hate! You can simply search for any product using the search bar and then go to town writing your reviews. These will earn you the Lifestyle badges I refer to above.

If you really want a Vox Box, you need to spend time on Influenster. I try to make it a priority to carve out some time each day to review products, answer snaps and be on the site.  What's a Vox Box? It's a box mailed to you that either includes one product to test out and review, or a myriad of products to test out and review. These are completely free and you get to keep the products when you're done testing them!

When You Receive a Vox Box:
Once you've done all that, you should receive a Vox Box! There are Virtual Vox Boxes and physical ones. Influenster will notify you by email if you're set to receive one of these Vox Boxes. So, it's important to follow all of the steps they require of you when you receive it! The first thing is to "Check in" your box. Just go to your profile, and then click on "Campaigns." All of the information you'll need to do is right there under "Tasks" and also under "Details."

Typically, it's reviewing the product on the product's website {or Amazon}; blogging about it; taking pictures of it; sharing it on social media; etc. Once you've done all of this, you must fill out the post-survey that Influenster sends you via email.

And that's it!

Do you have any questions for me? Did that make any sense whatsoever? I hope it helped, but if you need anymore guidance, feel free to comment here and/or email me at brittany{dot}w{dot}blog@gmail.com!
