What to Wear Wednesday

Welcome to "What to Wear Wednesday!"

Gentel and I are so excited to be sharing this series with y'all!

Once a month, we will be posting style ideas for a specific event. We plan to do a mix of both special events and everyday occasions from how to mix prints to what to wear to a wedding.

Is there a particular look you want ideas on styling? Leave us a comment or shoot either of us an email; we are happy to incorporate it!

This month, we are talking abut Black Tie weddings, because Gentel is lucky enough to be attending one in just a couple of weeks! She and her husband, Keith, received an invitation to a "black-tie optional" wedding in Boston at the end of February. This immediately presents a couple of challenges. First, Boston {and Texas} and February = COLD. Second, I don't know about you, but I don't own anything black tie. See our conundrum?

Our requirements are something affordable, but not boring. And it's got to be warm!

Gentel and I both have this thing about wearing the same formal dress to multiple events {although she's way more popular than me on the wedding circuit - ha!}. We just can't do it!

We decided the best way around this issue - and since Gentel will probably not need a black-tie dress again - is to rent one! Have y'all heard of Rent the Runway?

You essentially rent a designer gown from them for either four or eight days. They will also send you a second size for free, in case one size doesn't fit. And, for an additional $25, you can choose a second style!

Here are my top three favorite dresses from Rent the Runway. {And y'all must know I'm obsessed with black! Brandon jokes with me that I don't own any color in my closet. He's basically right.}

Which look do you prefer? Have you ever rented a gown? Do you re-wear dresses? What you do think about "What to Wear Wednesday?" SO many questions! :)

*Note: This is not a sponsored post, but if Rent the Runway wants to send me one of these dresses, I'm game!*

  1. I used Rent the Runway for a wedding last year, and am planning on using it for weddings this year. Since my apartment is on the smaller side, and I have several dresses I bought for weddings that I ended up wearing once, I'm thinking I'll end up spending about the same amount renting 3-4 dresses as I would buying ONE dress.

    There were a few issues with my rental--the size that fit me best had a broken zipper and a stain on the front. Luckily, the other size fit me acceptably (I just belted it) and RTR refunded me 1/2 my fee. But I'm planning on using them again.

  2. I've never used Rent the Runway, but I've heard of it and I'm intrigued! Although I'm not sure how well that would work for me since I have such a hard time knowing if a dress is going to work for me unless I try it on. Love all the dresses you picked out! Fun new series girl!! I'd like to request..go to styles for post baby. :)
