Weekending + Walker's 1st Birthday

We had such a great weekend celebrating Walker's first birthday! I'm backing it way up to Wednesday night since I was off work Thursday and Friday, and had an awesome four-day weekend! Here we go!

Wednesday was Walker's birthday eve, so we read, "On the Night You Were Born" before I rocked him to sleep that night. It was my last night rocking my 11-month-old, and if you're wondering, yes, I cried!

Thursday was Walker's first birthday! My mother-in-law met us at Chick-fil-A for lunch, where Walker had his very first chicken nuggets. He loved it, and I loved celebrating my boy!

My mother-in-law brought him a bundtini from Nothing Bundt Cakes, and he devoured that thing. He kept saying, "Mmmm!" and ate every bite. In fact, he cried when it was all gone! Ha!

He and I spent the rest of the day running errands for his party and cleaning the house to prepare for my family to arrive.

We did lots of playing and reading books in the morning...

...and then went to have lunch with Brandon at this yummy, {fattening} home-cooking, hole-in-the-wall restaurant called Dixie House. Y'all, we are talking chicken fried steak, fried okra, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and chocolate pie. Holy yum!

After lunch, Walker and I drove to my mother-in-law's house to decorate her house for his party: a circus!!! I had way too much fun with this theme and can't wait to share all the details with y'all tomorrow.

That night, Brandon and Walker did lots of playing to keep him awake and up past his bedtime for my family to arrive in Dallas.

My aunt gave him his first bite of guacamole, which was hilarious! He kept going for the spoon even after his bite and saying, "Mmm!"

Brandon picked up Mexican food for everyone, and we all just lazed around after we stuffed our faces. My grandparents stayed with us, and my parents and sister stayed with my aunt.

Walker's party day! I had to go pick up the balloons on a yucky, windy day. Let me tell y'all: you haven't lived until you have shoved 10 balloons in your car on a windy day. I'm sure everyone in the grocery store parking lot was cracking up at the sight of me doing that. Ha!

Walker had so much fun at his party and Brandon and I loved having all of our nearest and dearest there to celebrate with us. Walker got so many fun toys, but of course, was more interested in the box his new rocking horse came in than anything else!

I got so tickled at him trying to "read" his card from us.

He loved his new airplane from his Mimi and Pop!

My dad has his pilot's license and is going to teach him to fly one day, too! Of course we had to get a picture of the pilot and future pilot together. ;)

I was so happy to have four of my five family members come to Dallas to celebrate Walker's birthday with us! My youngest brother, Parker, had a basketball game and couldn't join us. We missed you, Uncle Parker!

"Get this thing off my head."

I have absolutely no pictures from yesterday because we were so ridiculously exhausted! We spent the day doing laundry, cleaning our house, putting away all of Walker's new birthday presents and NAPPING.

I hope y'all have a great week!
