Oh man, how is it already Monday?! I'm linking up with Biana and Meghan today.

I had a work event, so my mother-in-law came over to watch Walker until Brandon got home from work. Friday was also Walker's first day to use his convertible car seat! He absolutely loved it and car rides are much nicer now. ;)

When I got home, Brandon had us eating our colors! I was so starving, I kept piling everything on my plate.

Sadly, there was a horrific accident at work and I spent all evening {and night} working. That seemed to be the theme of my weekend.

Saturday morning came early, but the morning was so crisp, cool and fall-like that I took Walker out for a quick walk. He loves being outside and it was nice for me to get a breath of fresh air...literally.

I spent the rest of the morning alternating between cleaning and working {which was awful}. Once I came to a stopping point, Brandon and I went out to our new and improved Kroger to get supplies for our annual pumpkin carving and cider-drinking fête!

We are absolutely obsessed with our giant new Kroger and kept wandering the aisles buying things we didn't need. But a make-your-own almond butter section? Yes, please!

We decided on a whim after the Kroger trip to go early vote since the polls were open on a Saturday. Once we gave the volunteers our IDs, signed the papers and were walking to the booth to cast our ballot, the volunteer told me I really "shouldn't be wearing my shirt." I looked down and realized I had on my {super comfy, always-wear-on-Saturday} GOP elephant T-shirt. And apparently that's frowned upon in voting establishments. OOPS! I was still able to cast my vote, for Greg Abbott, though! #iloveTexas

Once we got home, we got started on dinner, our pumpkins and the treat recipe I blogged about on Friday

Brandon made us some Apple Cider Margaritas and I got started on the treats, which were super easy. And guess what? I didn't mess them up! Woo hoo!

I made enough for Walker's three teachers and put the rest in a Tupperware container for Brandon to take to work today.

For Walker's teachers, I found these cute Jack-O-Lantern gift boxes in Target's $1 aisle. I put the treats in a cellophane gift bag and tied it with black and white baker's twine. I just printed off on card stock these cute free printables from Pinterest, though I can't find the link I used. {So sorry to whoever created these precious things!} I just put everything in the gift box and took it to school with Waker today.

After we ate dinner, Brandon carved Walker's pumpkin and made the pumpkin's teeth match Walker's. :) My pumpkin will not be pictured because I butchered it so badly.

We went to church, where our pastor preached an EXCELLENT sermon on rest and ridding ourselves from this instantaneous world that we live in where everything has to be done RIGHTNOW.  As soon as it's online, I will link it here because it was that good. I looked at Brandon after the sermon and said, "Well, I don't know about you, but my toes are hurting because that sermon stepped all over them."

And taking the sermon to heart, we came home from church, had lunch and then everyone laid down for a nap. I caught up on a few TV shows in bed and caught a few minutes of shuteye. Walker napped for 2.5 hours! It was wonderful!

After his nap, he checked out his pumpkin:

...and decided to terrorize his Daddy by pulling his hair while he had him on his shoulders.

We all took a family walk and then Brandon cooked dinner while Walker and I played in the backyard.

We ate, got all ready for the week and for Halloween,
and I finally {finally} changed my chalkboard.

I had to work more on Sunday evening, so I decided I'm taking Friday off. Walker is going to go to "school," and I'm going to clean our house, get ready for our trick-or-treaters and have a little bit of mama time before picking my little man up early from school and celebrating his first Halloween!

Have a great week, everyone!

  1. Sounds like you definitely deserve a day off this week after working so much this weekend!! Love the pumpkins and glad the treats turned out well! That Kroger sounds amazing too. I'm kind of jealous ours isn't that big and cool! haha Have a good day lady!

  2. Aren't Sunday afternoon naps the best??!! I laughed at the comment about wearing your GOP sweatshirt to the voting poll. I volunteered for a candidate on voting day and every time I went to the bathroom, I had to cover up my shirt. I didn't know that was a thing, either. Looked like a fun weekend!
