Making Lunch a Little Easier

Brandon and I both take our lunches to work every day. Granted, we do eat out every now and then, but for the most part, we both brown bag it on the regular.

We also eat the same thing every. single. day.: a sandwich, chips or crackers, a mini Babybel cheese and a Kashi cookie. When we're feeling really fancy, we'll switch up our sandwich rotation from PB&J to turkey and cheese. ;)

Anyway, packing lunches at night {for the next day} began to become a pain once Walker was born and evenings got a little more jam-packed. We were juggling making supper; feeding Walker, bathing him and getting him in bed; actually eating said supper; making bottles for the next day and getting ready for bed ourselves.

So, Brandon said to me Monday night: "Why don't we buy little containers and put pre-bagged lunch stuff in them? Maybe making lunch won't be such a hassle at the end of the day."

Ummm...genius!!! I even said to him, "Why didn't I think of that?!" I know I had seen it on Pinterest from time to time, but for some reason, we never fully implemented it at our house.

On Tuesday, I ran to Target on my lunch break and picked up two of these little "baskets." They were seriously about $4 each.

Then, I just took our cookies, crackers and chips, placed them into Ziploc bags, and placed them in the bins!

It is so much easier now to just grab a bag with a cookie and a bag with crackers or chips and toss them into our lunch boxes! All we have to do is make the sandwich, toss in a Babybel and it's done.

I know this seems ridiculously simplistic {and I can assure you, it is}, but anything that will help this working mom shave even minutes off of her routine is a winner in my book!

Now if they only made something that would allow bottle-making to go much faster... ;)

  1. I used to be so good at prepping stuff like this on Sunday night for the week! I need to get back to it!
