Five on Friday

I'm sitting here staring at my computer, silently telling myself in my head, "This is my last 'Five on Friday' post to author without a baby."

Everything lately - since my doctor's appointment on Tuesday afternoon - has been, "This is my last _______ before the baby." It's crazy. I've known he's coming for nine months, but now that's it's here, it's overwhelmingly exciting. I can't wait to meet him, see who he looks like and just stare at him.

Anyway, moving on to much more exciting things!

-ONE-
I'm in major prep mode: making an extensive grocery list, running to Sam's for things I know we'll run out of quickly, getting a car wash and just trying to prepare us as much as I possibly can. It's so insane that we're going to the hospital Monday night. I can't get over it. Today is my last day in the office until mid-April, and it's so strange. I'll be working from home Monday - because I'll go crazy if I don't - and it's all just odd. It's like...I know he's coming but I have no idea what it's going to be like. Ready or not, here we go. {And also, I love that if he's born Tuesday, he will share his birthday with his cousin, Audrey - my first cousin Rebecca's daughter - who was born exactly one year ago on Jan. 28! How fun and special!}

-TWO-
Our pastor's brother {who is the Dean of the College at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and also a Professor of Communication there} preached at church on Sunday. Something he said has really stuck with me: "Comparison is the pastime of the ungrateful." I absolutely can't get it out of my head! It's so true, though. How often do we compare ourselves with others instead of being thankful for what we have? I never looked at comparing myself with others as being ungrateful until Sunday, but how true it is!

-THREE-
I bought the Naked Basics palette recently and I absolutely love it! The neutral colors look great with my blue eyes, and the versatility of it is so fun.

In the daytime, I put "Venus" under my eyebrow; then swipe "W.O.S." on my lid; then put "Naked 2" in my crease; and finish off with "Faint" on the outer corners and blend in.

At night, I do the same thing, but then add more "Faint" and use "Crave" as my eyeliner.

-FOUR-
I'm so excited that Caroline Jurgensen is going to take our newborn portraits! Her work is absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait for her to take the baby's pictures. I know she is so great and has her own ideas, but I am going to see if she can take this one photo with Brandon and the baby. I think it's so precious! {Via Pinterest}

-FIVE-
I know I talk about my mom's store, HomeGrown, on here a lot, but I just have to brag on them again. They started creating "Seasons Boards" and I just love them. My other favorite item are the "JOY" crosses, because they can be up all year round {just take off the little green and red center item}. They use a lot of burlap in their items - including adorable burlap wreathes - and I'm obsessed. Burlap is my favorite!!!

I hope y'all have a great Friday and a fabulous weekend!

  3. I know exactly how you feel - I LOVED having an induction because you get to take care of the little things and be as totally prepared as you can be, but on the other hand it's so hard to enjoy the time and not go crazy! It's going to be great, so excited for you. The best (and hardest) days of your life are ahead! :)

  4. I know exactly how you feel! I LOVED having an induction because I got to take care of all the little things and be as totally prepared as I could possibly be, but on the other hand it's so hard to concentrate knowing what is just around the corner. It will be great, so excited for you. The best (and hardest) days of your life are ahead! :)
