Icy Weekend

Well, we are still iced in! When the weather does this in Dallas, the whole Metroplex is basically shut down.

It's bitterly cold here and I am not kidding when I say I haven't ventured outside of this house since I walked in the door on Thursday afternoon. It's Sunday now. And honestly, I'm kind of enjoying it! My house is super clean, all our Christmas presents are wrapped and I've done enough loads of laundry for an army.

Friday:
My brother-in-law and sister-in-law live in an older neighborhood in Dallas that always has major power outages in big storms {like, we're talking for multiple days at a time}, so they came to stay with us - along with our niece Ellie Kate. Oliver had no clue what to do when she started crying! He kept looking at me like, "Um, what?"

Brandon and his brother bundled up and made the trek to Kroger Friday night to pick up a few things, and while he was there, he sent me a picture of the meat department. I'm telling you, we shut down up here! It's like the apocalypse.

Saturday:
My brother-in-law and sister-in-law left, and I spent the afternoon cleaning up a bit and then made a homemade beef stew before the Baylor game.

Which, speaking of, Baylor beat Texas to earn their first-ever Big 12 title and a spot in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Day! We were such excited Baylor Bears last night! It was the last game that the Bears would ever play in Floyd Casey Stadium (AKA: "The Case"); what a way to close it out!

My little brother, who is a sophomore at Baylor, was there and rushed the field after the game. What an experience for him! I so wish Baylor was that good when I was there, but negative

Sunday:
Our church cancelled services due to the weather, so we slept in and Brandon made a yummy breakfast of scrambled eggs and cinnamon rolls.

This is basically what we've done since Thursday night right here:

We're still trying to determine if we'll have work tomorrow, so we're just bundling up and staying cozy all day. Hope you're staying warm, wherever you are!

  1. That is nuts!! I was in walmart yesterday (which ewww anyway) and the power went out for nearly two hours! I ended up getting a ton of stuff just because I had to look at everything until I could check out :-)
