Veterans Day

So I'm a little late with my post, but Happy Veterans Day to those who have served our great nation. My great-grandfather {who is still with us today!} served in World War II and was injured in France on this day, so today holds even more significance for him and our family. I also have two friends whose husbands are former military and one whose husband is still in the military, and I'm just so thankful for their sacrifice for our freedoms.

Today was the first in four years that I didn't have to plan a huge Veterans Day event, and it felt wonderful. I was able to actually enjoy the day.

My school district held its annual Veterans Day ceremony this morning, and I got so choked up {as I always do} when the band played the Armed Forces Salute and the men/women stood up while their branch of service's song was playing. I can blame it especially on the hormones this year, but I'm always a mess when that tribute comes on. Oh, and when they play "Taps" and all the men/women stand up and salute. Gets me every single time.

I hope y'all had a great Veterans Day - wherever you are - and were able to thank a veteran for their service.
