Liebster Award

The Liebster Award is for up and coming blogs that have less than 200 followers. So what is a Liebster, you ask? Liebster is a German word that means sweetest, kindest, dearest, cute, endearing, etc. Such a thoughtful award! Thank you for nominating me, Leigh Anne!

Here are the questions I was given to answer:

1. Why do you blog?
I blog as an outlet, but also as a way to "journal" and look back to see what we did and when, how I felt about it, what I cooked, where we visited, etc.

2. What is your go-to dinner recipe?
My go-to dinner recipe is spaghetti. It's been my favorite meal since I was little {I know, easy to please!} and it's so easy. I always keep a box of frozen garlic bread in the freezer as a quick little side for the spaghetti, and if I'm feeling adventurous, I'll throw in a salad.

3. How do you unwind after a long day?
Pre-pregnancy, I would pour myself a large glass of wine and sit on the couch in sheer and udder silence. Obviously I can't have wine now, so I draw a warm bubble bath and just soak. I also love getting in the kitchen to unwind because after a long, stressful day when I feel like I could do nothing right, I know I can get in the kitchen and do something right in there.

4. What is your favorite blog post you've written?
My favorite blog post has to be when I announced I was pregnant. It was so hard to keep that a secret for 12 weeks {it seemed like an eternity} and I was so excited to let my followers know.

5. What tips do you have for preparing for the week? (at work or at home)
I've actually written about this before {here}! The things that make me feel most prepared and organized going into a new week are: having all my grocery shopping done and meals planned for the week; having all my laundry done and my house cleaned; and making sure my tank is filled with gas.

6. If you were given $20 to spend on anything, what would you spend it on?
I'm such a spender; my husband will tell you that outright! If I had $20, I would probably buy a little outfit for the baby or something small for our house from Home Goods

7. What does your perfect Saturday look like?
My perfect Saturday {these days} is waking up not feeling nauseous -- I'm serious!, having a decaf pumpkin spice latte in bed while watching HGTV, walking out of my bedroom to a clean house, watching Baylor football on TV and lounging in yoga pants and an oversized T-shirt all day. Oh! And not having to cook. Clearly I'm hard to please. :)

8. Which season is your favorite and why?
If you didn't catch the Baylor football reference in the answer above, I absolutely LOVE fall. We got married in the fall, so it's our anniversary time, and I adore college football. {Side note: I saw this thing on Pinterest that said, "She was a kind, sweet Southern girl until football season rolled around." That is so true with me!} Anyway, fall in Texas is such a reprieve from 100+ degree summer days. I love pumpkin spice-smelling anything and anything pumpkin in the oven. Fall is absolutely my favorite!

9. What do you splurge on?
I honestly splurge on my make-up. I do wear a few drugstore cosmetics {namely my eyeliner and mascara}, but I spend a pretty penny on my primer, foundation, eyeshadow and lipstick.

10. Where would be your dream vacation spot be?
That is such a hard question because we LOVE to travel. I'd say anywhere in the Caribbean on a beach, just Brandon and me.

11. What do you pack for lunch during the week?
It's a big mix, honestly. I'll typically do leftovers or make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but since I've been pregnant it's been so easy to grab something to go and eat at my friend Liz's house during our lunch hour.

11 Random Facts About Me Are...

1. I'm left-handed and have blue eyes. I'm a walking recessive trait.

2. I am a self-professed clean freak. I tend to wash my duvet cover and bath mats more than the normal person, and I've been known to get on my hands and knees in my shower -- with a toothbrush -- to clean the grout.

3. If I could have clean sheets every day, I so would. There is nothing better than crisp, white, clean sheets!

4. I write incorrectly: I hold my writing utensil on my ring finger {as opposed to my middle finger}, so I have a lovely callous on my left-hand ring finger. Looks lovely in the "bling" pictures. Ha!

5. I think you have to have your heart broken one good time before you truly understand how to love and respect the person you end up with.

6. I pop my knuckles, wrists, elbows, hips, neck, knees and toes. I am absolutely going to have rheumatoid arthritis one day. {And just typing this, I popped my neck and knuckles.}

7. I have never, ever eaten a Big Mac.

8. I am such a texture eater, and this has come with age. Water chestnuts, red apples, sweet potato casserole, nuts {especially pecans} and real mayonnaise gross me out.

9. While we're on the subject of food, I could eat wine and cheese for supper every night if Brandon would let me {and I was not pregnant}. I also adore pasta, don't have to have meat but probably once a week, and am a sucker for southern cooking: fried chicken, fried okra, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, cornbread, creamed corn and sweet tea. It's a wonder I'm not 5,000 pounds.

10. Songs and scents always take me back to places and times. I'll listen to certain songs and be immediately transported back to summers growing up, or smell a certain men's cologne and be right back in Waco during the spring semester as a freshman in Collins. It happens. :)

11. I studied abroad in London during college, and if I ever had the chance to move there, I wouldn't even hesitate.

So, there's me! Random, right?!

Have a great weekend, y'all!
