31 Days of Back-to-Basics Blogging

As I was reading Blue Eyed Bride's post about getting "back to the basics" of blogging, I was feeling a bit convicted.

I feel like I've been absolutely consumed with the house lately, and therefore, y'all are, too. So I want to get back to the basics. And for me, that's "talking" to y'all about my day: what we did, our experiences, sharing what's on my heart and a few funny stories.

This month, my goal is to simply write about what we did, how we're feeling and a few things we've learned along the way.

So, here we go. Back to the basics of blogging.

This is my brother, Royden. {He's a cutie, right?!} He spent last weekend with us, and when he left, my heart was sad.

I'm absolutely horrible at goodbyes {especially with family}. And even at 25, my heart hurts a little each time I hug my dad goodbye and back out of the driveway when our visits are over.

Anyway, I passed "Royden's" room, walked into my bedroom and texted him: "I miss you already. Come back?" "I wish," was his reply.

This is Oliver's new spot. I swore I wouldn't be that person that buys one of these things for their cat, but I wasn't about to have him tearing up our new couch. This is his perch, and he likes it. Therefore, I'm okay with it.

{But it will be hidden when we have guests.}

Last night, I made Jenny Steffens Hobick's Penne Pasta Pie. {Y'all know how much I love Jenny.} I pulled out my Le Cruset au gratin dish to bake it in -- gotta love finding new things that were packed away in the tiny apartment -- and baked away.

Brandon said to me, "I think this dish tastes better here."

I love that man.

We're planning a cozy night in tonight, and perhaps even a walk around the neighborhood. I'm making chili, we're watching Parenthood and just resting.

I'm signing off to find a new commute home. I-35 just isn't cutting it for me.

Happy October!
