Thursday Things

{Excuse my Thursday ramblings.}

I am so tired today. Every night this week, I've told myself that I will not stay up to watch the Olympics, but I end up doing it anyway and it's nearly midnight before I crawl in bed. I'm so happy for Team USA, but a girl needs her sleep!

I absolutely cannot believe it's {already} August. We close on our house in 35 days. We have to give our apartment our 30-day notice in 29 days. It's almost school time.

Once I turned my {giant} work calendar over on Tuesday evening, it hit me. Like really, really it me.

And it always does this time of the year, especially since I have siblings that are still in school. The fun, carefree, easy days of summer are replaced with school supplies, doctor and dentist appointments, after-school football practice, piano lessons and this year, my brother's freshman year at Baylor

I'm more excited for him than I can even express. I vividly remember my freshman year at Baylor, walking across campus in my new school clothes, tote bag in hand, trying so hard to not look at my campus map for fear of looking like a lowly little freshman. Little did I know, freshmen are as easy to spot as a gray hair in a head full of black hair. I remember Stephanie thinking that Pat Neff Hall was really pronounced, "Patton Eff." I remember almost falling asleep in {required} Chapel. I remember eating the same meal in Collins every single day: a chicken wrap with a garlic tortilla and ranch dressing, if you're wondering.

This year, more than ever, August is really turning a new leaf over. For many reasons.

We ate at Chick-fil-A last night, among the news crews and protesters.

Regardless of your views, any company or person should have the right to free speech. It's the beauty of our great nation. And guess what? If you don't like it, don't eat there.

We, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed our chicken sandwiches, waffle fries and large diet lemonades.

God bless America.

In preparation for our upcoming move, we have been purging anything and everything.

I finally cleaned out my closet and said "goodbye" to 2 out of 5 bridesmaids dresses. {Don't worry, Gel, yours is safe! ;)} I got rid of crappy jewelry that I've had since high school and generally just cleaned out and organized.

We've purged things out of drawers, coat closets and under beds. And that led me to clean out my fridge and pantry, and even organize our movie collection. {Why was I hanging on to a box for "Breakfast at Tiffany's" when I don't even have the DVD anymore?!}

Brandon has a company "Family Day at the Lake" on Saturday, and while I know it'll be fun, I'm terrified of hanging out with these people in my bathing suit. Why can't I have Heidi Klum's body? Also? It's going to be a "cooler" {according to the local morning weather girl} 103 degrees. Fabulous. Sweating and in a bathing suit. What could be better?

Here's to Thursday. One more day to Friday!
