Watering our Grass.

I've mentioned it on here before, but I do sometimes struggle with what to tell you in regards to our personal life. I don't ever want you to think that we're perfect {because we're not} and I don't want you to think that we just have the weight of the world on our shoulders {because we don't}.

When we were engaged, my parents always said that marriage isn't easy. I kind of scoffed that off, thinking, "What do you mean? You're just married." But now? After almost two years? I will tell you that it is not easy. The first year is the hardest, in-law's will infuriate you, you will fight about money, work will be stressful, and there will be nights that you freak out on your husband because he left the toilet seat up for the nth time.

But I will also tell you that marriage is beautiful. I honestly have zero experience as a newlywed, but it's beautiful. And it's fun. And it's excitement, anticipation and frustration coupled with so much love.

But I will tell you, in the words of our Sunday School teacher, that "grass needs to be watered to grow." And it does.

So, we're getting away on a little "staycation" in Dallas this weekend. We're spending one night away, getting a massage and having a nice dinner at Ocean Prime. Nothing too fancy, but it's definitely going to allow us to get away, relax, recharge and decompress. And grow that grass. :)

Oh, and I'm enacting a "no-cell-phone-unless-you're-taking-a-picture" policy. Which, frankly, I think I might be most excited about.

  1. the new look is SUPER cute! I had to double check the url to make sure I was in the right place :) enjoy your staycation!!

    1. I'm so glad you love it! Clearly I was very busy yesterday. :)
