He is risen! He is risen, indeed!

I hope you all enjoyed a lovely Easter and took the time today to remember what Easter is all about: Jesus dying on the cross for our sins.

But before I get into today's lesson at church, I'm going to back up and give you a little weekend wrap-up!

I took off from work, and while I didn't get to sleep in, it was so wonderful to lounge around in my jammies! I cleaned the house and caught up on my DVR'd shows, and then I got an amazing hour and a half massage. My sweet family and friends sent gifts, and it was so hard to not open them until Saturday morning!

My step-father and his family sent me this Godiva gift basket. Y'all. Just...y'all.

I absolutely love Godiva chocolate and we've honestly made a huge dent in this basket this weekend!

I got home from the massage, relaxed on the couch with Oliver, and sipped a mimosa while I waited for Brandon to get home from work.

We ate a yummy supper {that will be on the blog on Friday} and watched Good Will Hunting and Free Willy {yes, Free Willy, ha!} on Netflix, all while we polished off this box of truffles.

My actual birthday! We woke up to this gift basket from my co-workers {I swear, people are willing me to gain 500 pounds this weekend!} and then Brandon and I exchanged gifts.

Brandon got me a Bible with my married name on it, new pajamas {I think he was tired of me stealing his T-shirts to sleep in}, some perfume and a gift card to Victoria's Secret. Oh, and he made me a mimosa for breakfast. I love him.

Then, my family FaceTimed me and they got to watch me open their gifts. I love technology! My parents gave me a Clarisonic Mia and a cute bow belt from Kate Spade{Thank you, family!}

We got cleaned up and went to brunch with Austin and Jessica at Taverna. We had so much fun! During brunch on Saturday and Sunday, they have $1 mimosas and bellinis. Needless to say, we partook! :)

Jess and Austin were so sweet and got me a gift card to my favorite nail place! I am so glad that we met these sweet friends in our Sunday School class. We're so blessed with true friends.

See how my right side is in the sun here?

Well, look what happened by the time I got home!

I'm so fair-skinned. Sigh.

We spent the rest of the afternoon on the couch watching The Masters, and then went to NorthPark to spend my gift card! I got even more jammies...and threw all my old ones away. Not even kidding, the gown I'd been sleeping in had holes in it. Trashy!

My mother-in-law came down with the stomach flu, so we didn't get to go to their house for Easter lunch like we'd planned.

So, I got up early to make a buttermilk pie {let me know if you want the recipe!} and slow-cooker beef stroganoff and corn pudding.

We got dressed in our Easter best {too bad you can't see us because my arm only reaches so far!} and went to church.

And if you're at all interested, I wore my cute blue Target dress {love that!} and Brandon wore khaki slacks, a blue button-down and his navy blazer.

Our church service was amazing and I was excited to get to use my new Bible!

Our lesson focused on "The Cry of Victory: It Is Finished." Sam focused on those three words and the significance behind them, saying that as humans, there is nothing that we can do and nothing that we can add to Jesus' free gift of salvation. As Jesus said, "It. Is. Finished." Sam opened up the service by saying, "He is risen!" and we echoed him and said, "He is risen, indeed!" I love that.

After church, we came home and ate Easter lunch, just us two. I told Brandon that I felt so grown up! This was our first Easter not spent with either of our families -- at our own church -- and my first time to make Easter lunch.

We're lounging on the couch watching The Masters {go Phil!} and later, Jess and Austin are coming over for pie and coffee.

Hope y'all had a wonderful day! He is risen! He is risen, indeed!
