weekend.

Happy Sunday! We had a fabulous weekend laying low, which is exactly what we've needed.

Friday:
My office closed early at 3 p.m. in observance of Monday's MLK Day holiday. So, I immediately sped over to the nail place to get a manicure and pedicure. I went red this time and love it. And can I tell you something? I had to wait on a guy {sans female} to get finished at the nail place before my pedicure could start. Only in Dallas.

This little pretty showed up in my mailbox, and I've been saving it for this afternoon to read.

And after I talked about eating in on the weekends, my husband comes home with Desperado's...and their sopapillas. I love that man. We watched I Don't Know How She Does It, which got horrible ratings, but we thought was so cute!

Saturday:
Brandon went into work for a bit, so Oliver and I watched DVR'd episodes of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

I did a ton of laundry {one thing I love about Saturdays is clean sheets} and went to the grocery store.

Brandon came home and we were so lazy all afternoon...love it. We He watched tons of football and I made a yummy dinner, which will be featured on "Menu Friday" later this week.

Sunday:
Today we went to church and learned about Expectations vs. Entitlements in marriage. As we all know, a marriage is the combining of two families; each family has their own way of doing things, and you bring that into a marriage. Each person in a marriage naturally has expectations that vary from family to family {e.g.: I expect you to work, I expect you to cook supper}, but each person in a marriage has entitlements in that marriage, as well {e.g.: I am entitled, through our marriage vows, for you to be faithful to me}. But the best part is? You and your spouse must decide what you're entitled to and what your expectations are in your marriage, because if you don't, that's where assumptions come in. You need to "serve down": ask what you can do for your partner -- learn about them -- and they will do the same.

It was so eye-opening.

We're now cozy on the couch, and my football-watching husband is begging me to bake Lemon Cool Whip Cookies. Might be running to the store shortly for ingredients! :)
