Blessed.

I had a throbbing migraine that lasted all afternoon and into the evening; it even pounded as I was crawling in my bed.

Brandon knew what a horrible day I'd had, so he brought home a bottle of wine and made a fire; it was a dreary evening and the night just called for it.

I fell asleep for a bit on the couch, curled up with Oliver. I honestly can't even tell you what was on TV. My head hurt that bad.

Earlier in the evening, between reheating leftovers and falling asleep on the couch, I was reading my blogroll, and came across Blue Eyed Bride's post about "Blessed Be The Name" clothing. Immediately I started singing softly Matt Redman's "Blessed Be Your Name."

And as I was singing, specific verses hit me:

Blessed be your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be your name

Blessed be your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be your name

Every blessing you pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say,
"Lord, blessed be Your name..."

And Jesus hit me, like he usually does, smack dab over the head. He deserves to be praised when all's right in the world, and He deserves it (even though "there's pain in the offering" and it's hard to do it) when things are bad.

It's that faith thing I posted about yesterday. Even though we don't see Him physically, we still believe in him and know that He's good. And know that He has plans for us...plans that we might not have wanted for ourselves. He knows us. And He wants us to know Him and praise Him, in good times and in bad.

And you know what? He smacked me twice last night. I was also playing around on Pinterest and saw this...and immediately 'pinned' it. I know it's typically used for children's rooms {I know I'll have it in our children's rooms} but it hit me just how big God is and even though there are billions of us in this world He created, He still knows each of us intimately. How amazing is that?!

I love all of Psalm 139, but the verses I'm referencing follow:

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in that secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

-Psalm 139:13-16

He is amazing, and He is to be praised.
