These are a few of my favorite things...

There are a few things in my life that I really just love and can't live without.

And so, to quote Maria VonTrapp, "These are a few of my favorite things..."

Brandon bought these for me about three years ago and they are really the only sunglasses I ever wear. I'm so loyal to them, and I love that they cover pretty much my entire face. :)

My friend Lara wore this in college, and I would always "borrow" a spritz of it before we went out on the weekends. I have always loved it, so I asked Brandon for it for Christmas last year.

He got it for me, and I wear it Even those no-makeup Saturdays when my hair is in a braid and I'm donning a baseball cap. It just makes me feel like a lady.

PS: Did anyone see the SNL spoof on this? Hilarious!

I tried one of these once and I was immediately hooked. They last for two-three weeks and for that time it always looks like you have perfect, shiny nails.

Since I don't get my hair colored {anymore} or really ever get my hair cut that often since it grows so darn slow, this is my one little indulgence.

For this busy working girl, the Crock Pot is my BFF. I wake up a few minutes early, sleepily combine the ingredients and turn the "low" button on before I leave. And then, wa-la, 10 hours later I come home to a fabulous, already made meal!

My favorite Crock Pot meals are:

And yes, I know I've talked about it before, but Kiehl's "Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant and Deodrant Cream" is my absolute favorite. Buy it.

I've worn this stuff since high school and I love it. I keep coming back to it. It's the only pink-y color that doesn't look too pink or too dark with my super light skin tone.

And it's not "too much" like some lipsticks can be (I wore this color on my wedding day), but it's also not "not enough" like some lip glosses can be. And it's only $14.50. Compare that to the Chanel lip gloss I was wearing for awhile and it's a steal!

Happy Thursday! {I totally thought today was Wednesday, so yay!}

I'm here.

I'm here, I promise. I'm just really slammed with work and honestly don't have much else to say except that I'm pretty much exhausted, pretty much am ready to pull my hair out, and pretty much am using wine to get through the next few weeks.

When I got home last night, I made this. And I was disappointed. So, while my husband went to the gym, I plopped myself down on the couch and watched the following:

{Brandi looks like a major h-to-the-o}

{Eddie Cibrian sounds just like Don Draper. And I think he's doing it on purpose.}

And then Brandon came home and we watched Parenthood.

When he got home, I made him get me the chocolate chips out of the pantry. Because you know, I hadn't moved in about three hours and I needed a snack. And we like to eat a handful of chocolate chips as our "dessert." He told me to get up and get them myself and then called me lazy.

I stuck my tongue out at him and didn't move.

The chocolate chips were in my possession about 10 seconds later. He's so nice.

I'm going back to work now. And I promise that I'll do my yoga tonight and won't sit on my couch for three consecutive hours with chocolate chips. :) Or maybe not. We shall see.

I *heart* fall.

One of the reasons that I love fall is because I can pull out my Crock Pot in the morning and make yummy, easy, "fall" meals.

I'm so excited to come home tonight to a yummy pot roast with potatoes and carrots.
(And it's my Mom's recipe...mmm.)

The weather this morning was gorgeous, and it made Monday a little less "Monday."

Hope y'all have a great day!

Two-Ingredient Pumpkin Muffins: Tutorial

So, after sitting in bed for an upwards of two hours (about an hour of that time spent on Pinterest), I was itching to bake. And this recipe was calling my name: Two-Ingredient Pumpkin Cake.

You will need:

1 box cake mix {I used yellow, but next time I will use spice cake}
1 can pumpkin {Not pumpkin pie mix!}

*Wine in the background not included. :)

Can I tell you a backstory about the canned pumpkin?

I hadn't been able to find it anywhere in Dallas for the past few weeks. Not that they didn't carry it; it was already all sold out! (I blame Pinterest.)

But because I was really wanting to make this, I gave it a good ol' college try and went to Target to see if they might have some. And boom, there it was on the shelf. Four 29-oz. cans were left.

I took them all.

Anyway, it's super easy to make. You just mix together 15 oz. of the pumpkin (I saved the remainder of ours for pumpkin pancakes later this week) and the cake mix.

Grease your liners and bake at 350* for 28 minutes.

*Note: Our apartment oven is not good and I had to bake mine for 35 minutes. Test after 28 minutes by sticking a toothpick in the middle of the muffins.

And I wasn't a big fan of the apple cider icing the recipe called for, so I made my own buttercream icing using this recipe. Why, you ask? Because I already had all the ingredients. Done and done.

PS: Those glass canisters were my great-grandmother's. I love them. Love, love them.

This is what your muffins will look like when they're done. Don't worry that they don't look round like normal muffins; they don't have eggs or oil, so they won't do that.

And because I didn't want my thick buttercream icing on the muffins, {they aren't cupcakes, after all!} I iced them while they were still hot. And it was all oozy and melty and amazing

Brandon poured a huge glass of milk, had three of these and said, "This is the best pumpkin recipe I've ever eaten."

And coming from a boy whose momma makes some pretty darn good pumpkin bread? I'll take the compliment. :)

Happy Sunday! We're currently holed up in our room, resting and flipping between golf and football. I love Sunday afternoons like this.

First, let me say: Happy, Happy Birthday to my beautiful Mom! I love you!

We really didn't do too much this weekend.

Friday, we had supper with two other couples from our Sunday School class at Ozona. It was so much fun and we just love our church and our Sunday School class.

Saturday, I went to the grocery store, got my nails done and bought a pumpkin (or a "punkin" as we say):

And this morning, my cute husband made yummy cinnamon rolls before church. He's a keeper.

We had lunch at Desperado's after church with our Sunday School class, and we're now in a major food-coma.

I hope your weekend was beautiful and restful! I think I'm going to take a nap. :)

Favorite Fall Shows.

Our DVR is blowing up right now. I love fall TV. Love, love, love it. No more Bachelor Pad for this household! We're watching about a show a night and are planning to watch our "leftovers" this weekend. :)

Here's what we're watching right now.
{And by we, I mean me and sometimes Brandon}:

Charlie Sheen's drama was the best thing that happened to this show.
AND how in the world did I not put two and two together that Jon Cryer was Ducky!?

{Just call us 65 years old}

{Starts tonight! Woo!}

We just started watching this last night and it is hilarious! Probably my new favorite show.

{I know, I know. But it really is good!}

{We miss you, Elliot!}

And, I can't wait to watch:

and Pan Am

I love all these Mad Men-esque shows that are coming out!

Sleep Talkin'

I told y'all that my blogging would totally suck until mid-October, and I was right.

It's been another crazy day, and I am literally standing up at the kitchen counter writing this to you, because I had my computer open for a recipe, and am too lazy to move.

Brandon does not talk in his sleep. {Me on the other hand? Chatty Cathy in real life = Chatty Cathy in my sleep.}

Anyway, we had just gone to bed and I had just fallen asleep...

...when I hear kissing noises. Like literal kissing noises. I flung my eyes open, and there is Brandon, making kissing noises in his sleep. The following is so hilarious that I had to share:

Me: "Brandon! Babe! What are you doing?!"
Brandon: [More kissing noises]
Me: "Brandon! Are you awake??"
Brandon: "Have I had one job in my career or three?"
Me: "Huh? What?"
Brandon: [Obviously getting irritated with me in his sleep] "Have I had one job in my career or three?"
Me: "Um, you've had two jobs in your career. Wake up! Babe, you're talking in your sleep."
Brandon: "HUH!? WHAT?! [Grrrrrr noise] Why did you wake me up?! Don't DO that!"

I seriously had to hold in my laughter at midnight-ish last night.

So, have you had one job in your career, or three?

Blueberries and Cream

It's been a long day, but I wanted to leave you with my latest {probably unhealthy} obsession:

Sunday, September 18, 2011

Sundays always come too fast.

I'm drinking up this afternoon by sitting in the middle of our bed with the fan on, the TV blaring the sounds of Sunday afternoon football, and switching between "pinning" on Pinterest and blogging. I have a love/hate relationship with Sunday.

Our weekend was restful and relaxing...just what we both needed.

Friday evening consisted of this, which was amazing...
{The leftovers are already gone.}

...watching this via OnDemand...
{Which was surprisingly cute.}

...and enjoying a couple of glasses of this

Brandon golfed on Saturday morning, and I slept until 10 a.m.

I finally got my diploma framed, and Brandon hung them in our "desk area":

And I updated the top of our dresser a bit in our bedroom:

We listened to Baylor beat the mess out of SFA on Saturday night...
{48-0, game called because of lightning. Hello, #17 in AP poll.}

...and watched "The Conspirator" over leftovers during the two lightning delays.
{Again, fabulous.}

Hubs made cinnamon rolls this morning. He's the breakfast maker in this family.

I tried to make cinnamon rolls last week and forgot they were in the oven. They looked {and tasted} like hockey pucks.

I don't do well with breakfast foods.

We went to church this morning, and we went shopping for my Mom's birthday afterwards.
{Hi, Mom.}

I made this for Sunday lunch and I think Brandon liked it. A lot. Like two helpings a lot.

That makes me happy.

...and before I crawled into bed to write this, I put him to work fixing the clock I broke.
I love him with a drill.

Happy Sunday.
