Rain.

"If you pray for rain, be prepared to deal with some mud."
-Dolly Parton

We've been praying for rain around here for awhile. Apparently this is the longest drought the Dallas area has experienced in a long time...and it's blatantly obvious: my plants are dying, grass is a gorgeous shade of brown, there are water restrictions and we've been under a burn ban for months.

But then...it rained. Not for long, but we've been seeing the ominous clouds here since yesterday and this morning it finally did it. And judging from the Facebook statuses and Twitter posts I saw, everyone was just as happy as I was to see liquid falling from the sky.

Just as there comes a point in each day when I'm completely done working, there comes a time {typically each August} that I am completely done with summer.

You see, summer in Texas lasts from about May until early October. Yes, you read that correctly. Five months of intense heat. About three months of 100+ degree days every.single.day.

I crave the 61 degree temperatures I heard Al Roker say were in New York City earlier this week. 61 degrees in August...can you imagine?!

But because I am so over summer, I am ringing in fall a bit early in our house. Don't judge!

What are we doing? So glad you asked.

Right now the biggest items are my Pumpkin Brulee Yankee Candle (Y'all. This candle smells SO GOOD I could eat the darn thing.) and making meals that are a bit more fall, like the pot roast I made Monday.

But today? Oh, today. I started craving Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte.

But it's not out yet.

So I got a Peppermint Mocha. And of course that made me want cooler temperatures even more.

Here's to summer ending quickly and fall approaching! I'm ready for boots, Baylor Homecoming, fires in the fireplace and pumpkin spice lattes!!!
