weekend wrap-up.

Happy Sunday! We had such a fun weekend, and I'm excited to share it with you.

We came home, quickly ate leftovers, and Brandon took me to Painting with a Twist

If you've never been there (or somewhere similar), an instructor teaches you to paint a particular painting, and you do it all while drinking wine! (As if I need any excuse to drink wine...) My husband bought a table bottle of wine and we were ready to go.

Let's just say that I am not the artist in this family, and I only pray that our children inherit Brandon's genes for that!

We decided to hang up Brandon's painting, and here it is in our house near our little "bar" area.
{As you can see above, my wine glass is a little crooked and I can't seem to ever get the background colors to mix well together.}

We had so much fun and definitely encourage y'all going with your husband, friends, couples, etc.

Saturday was "craft day" in the Whitacre household. We got up kind of early and were out the door by 9:15 a.m. for brunch at one of our favorite places:

Another Broken Egg is so yummy and let's just say that the portions are not small.

I got their fresh-squeezed orange juice and french toast...

...and Brandon's boy self got an omelette (which comes with an English muffin and breakfast potatoes), a banana pancake [that is bigger than his face] and a few cups of coffee.

Isn't this a lot of food?!

Afterward, I talked him into taking me to the nail place, which is convienently located right across the street from Another Broken Egg. He gave in, and I convinced him to get a "male" manicure and pedicure while I got mine. :)

When we got home, it was time to be crafty! I ordered a monogram from Leen the Graphics Queen on Etsy after seeing Kelly do it for her daughter's room. Brandon worked in a sign shop in college (hallelujah!) so he put the vinyl monogram on in mere minutes with little help from me.

Don't you love it!? I do!!!

Total cost of the project was only the $28 for the vinyl monogram, which was $25 + $3 shipping. (We already had the mirror hanging in our breakfast nook area, which I replaced with a $19.99 mirror from Home Goods.)

Excuse the iPhone photo, but this is the mirror above our bed.

I love, love, love it! I'd been searching for something to go above our bed for months, so this is wonderful.
(If you'll remember, this is what our room looked like before with nothing above the bed. I hated it.)

We also worked on replicating this project I found on Pinterest a few weeks ago.

I already had an old window frame from my grandparents' house, and really wanted to add color to our can-only-be-white apartment walls.

So, Brandon screwed some screws to the back of the frame, then secured some plain multi-use wire (that typically comes in those little plastic nail kits you can buy at Target) around the screws and wa-la! I purchased some wooden clothespins at the grocery store, and then clipped some engagement photos to the wire and we hung it up.

This is it far away:

And this is close up:

Total cost of this project was $4.99 for the clothespins, as I already had the window frame, wire and photos (that were free from Shutterfly thanks to a coupon).

Today we went to church and have been home all afternoon watching the beginnings of Shark Week. :) We admit it, we love it.

Hope you've all had a great weekend!
