Washington, D.C. via my iPhone.

Oh, what a two days I have had.

I wish that I could say they've been fantastic and that my trip was wonderful. Unfortunately, it was literally a series of unfortunate events and I'm so ready to just sleep.

Let's get started, shall we?

We left DFW on Tuesday afternoon and our flight was a bit delayed due to some crazy bathroom problem, and then the guy I was sitting next to took my laptop cord and I took his. Lovely.

I had dinner with my cousin LeAnn and her sweet boyfriend, then we went on a quick walking tour to see the White House the next morning. After that was our awards ceremony (we won!) and then we headed for the airport.

And here's where it gets tricky. Let me bullet point it out, shall I?

  • We checked into our flight and they made me check my bag at the gate because there "wasn't enough room in the overhead bins."
  • We got on our aircraft and sat on the tarmac for 30 minutes.
  • They then canceled our flight due to a mechnical problem.
  • Because they checked my stupid bag, I had to go outside of security to get my bag at baggage claim.
  • It was at baggage claim that I realized I had left my purse on the plane.
  • After a brief freak out on the TSA man who wouldn't let me go back through security to get my purse ("Ma'am, I need to see your ID." "Um, sir, my ID is in my purse." "Then I can't let you go." "THEN YOU GO GET IT!!!!!") and a few tears, he walked {as slow as molasses} back to my gate and retrieved my purse.
  • We then re-booked our flight to the 8:05 p.m. flight and got on the standby list for the 6:45 p.m. flight.
  • Then, I went back through security {again} with my purse and was chosen as the recipient of a pat-down by TSA. Lovely.
  • We didn't get on the 6:45 p.m. flight. Fab.
  • We got on the 8:05 p.m. flight, which was delayed due to weather. I wish I was kidding.
  • We departed FINALLY at 9-something, and got to Dallas at 11:30 p.m.
  • And now, after 6 hours of sleep and a ponytail and no make-up at work later, we're swamped. And I have to take off tomorrow to drive to Louisiana. And then come back on Sunday. And I'm taking off on Monday because I am (and will be) ever-loving exhausted. And guess who has some fabulous deadlines due Friday and Monday? Hi. I'm raising my hand right now.
  • I want to cry. No, seriously. I want to cry.

And now for photos:

The Washington Monument as seen riding in our cab.

The White House in 10 minutes.

The Treasury Department (or something) as seen walking back to our hotel. I wanted to knock on the door to see if they would give me some money. But I didn't.

The Jefferson Memorial (with the Washington Monument in the background), as seen by our precious client pulling over on the side of the road so I could take a picture.

The Pentagon, as seen by our sweet client getting lost accidentally-on-purpose so we could see this.

Friends and family, please pray for me this week. Please pray that I get the rest I need this weekend and the willingness I need today to finish all of my tasks at hand. Please pray that I have a good attitude and that I'm not rude, snippy or irritable. I would really appreciate it!

I'll talk with y'all on Sunday.
